A nice continuation of the first book. We learn more about Mac and Barrons and they have a steamy kiss that (sadly) gets interrupted. I HATE Rowena, and am ready for Barrons to kill her. This book, like its predecessor, ends with a huge cliffhanger. Still really interested in finding out how the series ends!

Edit: the first time I read this series I had not read the Highlander series so when Mac and Barrons were robbing the old guy the Druids that Barrons was talking about meant nothing to me. Now I know that they were Durstan and Daegus. Also, that Christian is the same person from their stories.

I'll admit, my notes kept getting worse and worse as I was reading this series because I was so into them, so my apologies as we move forward.

I had my nose stuck in these books and I could not pry it out. I read Darkfever for my December group read and I just couldn't stop there. I had to know what happened next. It takes an amazing book to get me to read a series back to back like that and not read anything else at the same time. This is one of those amazing series'.

The main problem that I PERSONALLY had, and it's not a huge deal, I could NOT for the LIFE of me figure out how to pronounce V'Lane. Does it flow? Does it not flow? I read it V-Lane the WHOLE TIME. I think the apostrophe threw me off because I imagine it was supposed to be Vlane like Blane. Or maybe the L was silent and it was Vane like Bane. I have no idea. And, unless I'm wrong or just didn't see it, there wasn't a pronunciation guide ANYWHERE. Not even on her website and there are names in this series that make you tilt your head like a dog.

I talk myself through things and if you read my notes you would see that I basically have a conversation with myself. Maybe that makes me crazy. One thing I pointed out to myself was that Fiona left way toooo easily. I'm not going to spoil anything and say why she left, but I definitely felt like she would be back later on and that we hadn't seen the last of her.

I rooted so hard for Barrons and Mac. So hard. It hurts my heart how bad I rooted for them guys. Barrons gives me all of the Rhys (ACOTAR) vibes and I couldn't get enough of him. If he went too long without being in the storyline I wanted to cry. I was way too emotionally attached to these characters.

I believe I said this in the last post, but if you're looking for romantic, erotic, take you away what not, this isn't the book for you. It's drama and adventure and supernatural. It isn't what I was expecting going in, but I love it none the less.

better than the first book, but still not that great.

Better, still rushed and simple in its writing style. It is true light and fun reading, but the characters have more meat to them and the plot has thickened. On to the next

Just as good the second time round.

4.5

Fecking Insanely Addictive.

Due to insistent public demand, I'm picking this up. :P Yes, to all of those who recommend it to me. Here it goes. :)

4.5 stars. Hmmm... Okay, so I like this one better than the first book cause THAT book made me bored to the point I was contemplating whether to finish it or not. This book is SO MUCH better and it didn't bored me to death. Though I skipped some thoughts of Mac. Like when she's differentiating something cause that just made me sleepy.

I liked it cause it's action-packed. Though some questions were still not answered and just left me more questions. Who or What is Jericho Barrons? I honestly think he's a half-Fae or something. Still questions about Mac's heritage. And the last part was a cliffhanger. Who got the Sinsar Dubh? She said she saw it. So who is it?

And for the second time, there's a book that made me want to spill my guts out. Seriously! That is so fecking gross! How did she stomach it, I don't know, but well, she's desperate. >_< And Barrons, the arrogant man, kinda annoyed me but still made me laugh. He called Mac by her name whenever she's on the verge of death. >:(

"I'm the one with the boobs!"
"I know you're the one with the boobs! They're in my fucking face every time I turn around!"

That just made me laugh. I mean, they're all serious, Barrons said that he don't know who's who between Mac and the guy. And then she just said that she's the one with the boobs. LOL.
