Michael is on the mark with this book. He explains what happened to him and why he does what he does. He gives you his process, and explains that doing what he does will not make you a millionaire. He admits he is not a millionaire, but he is a very happy and content author.

This is not the book for you if you are looking for a get rich quick scheme.

This is the book for you if you are looking for a write fast and fearless scheme. This is the book for you if you want to learn how to stand up to your fears and push through. This is the book for you if you need a slap i the face about how much time you are wasting NOT writing your book.

This was the book that I needed.

I enjoy reading about the methods and processes of other writers. For me, this book started out a little "iffy" because it seemed like the author had a "my way or the highway" attitude but during the second half they loosened up and adopted the mentality of "do what works best for you." While I place value in hearing how other writers work, I agree that it's important to find your own path. Overall, I was pleased with the author's advice and have come away with some new tools to use on my journey to becoming a prolific writer. 4/5.

Quantity doesn’t mean quality. Sure, I get it. One needs to write consistently. But, being prolific doesn’t always mean that what you write is good. That’s my biggest pain point with this book.

Ronn poo-poos outlining. I get this. Sometimes you just need to write. But, this tactic goes against making a “big story”. The “big story” concept helps you create a story world or universe. Think Harry Potter. Rowling built an entire world where most an character or even items can have its own story. If you’re writing this big, you need an outline to guide and keep things orderly. Maybe I misunderstood Ronn’s point. Still, he is strenuously against outlining because it wastes time. Again, quantity doesn’t equal quality.

Still, there is enough here for me to encourage me to write and tips for getting into the flow and that writer’s block isn’t a bad thing - it can be beneficial.

Excellent advice

This book was exceptional it gave me permission to write how I wanted. I have tried outlining and didn’t like it then I felt bad for not liking it because I thought that’s what I’m supposed to be doing. Same thing with editing, it just confuses me but this is something I’d still like to learn about.
I’ve heard of this author before I think through Joanna Penn but this is my first time reading his book and I can’t wait to read more of his books. I learned a lot from it.

One of many writing books I read over three months. A bit on the brief side, but interesting.

Very short read with plenty of specific, practical advice to write more, faster. I’m a different sort of writer than the author who is one of those self-published authors who puts our book after book after book. There was still plenty that I could apply to my work here. Nice voice to listen to, which is a bonus if you listen on audio!

No rating | I saw a YouTube video I found interesting from this author so I thought id give his audiobook a try since it was very short and free on scribd. The advice in this book sounds legit, but not groundbreaking.

This book was exactly what was promised in the intro. It was a very different way of looking at the novel writing process. I have to admit I'm skeptical about some of the advice given considering just how against the grain it goes to what works for everybody else. That said, I will be giving some of his suggestions a try, just to see if going against the grain is the best way to increase productivity in the long run.

There are some really good nuggets of advice about remembering your passion and your inner sense of story that self-published authors can sometimes forget in the midst of all the marketing and business information out there.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has been struggling with writing marketable fiction or gotten stuck in whatever process they are trying to make work. It's different enough that it helped me jump start the project that I've been stuck on for months. Take a look if you are interested in something a little out of the ordinary.

I attended the author's session of the same title at this year's Writer's Digest Conference and really connected with his message, so I bought this book. It's a deeper dive into the exact same stuff he covered at the conference, so I appreciated seeing some of if for the second time. While the book is geared more toward fiction writers, I found it useful as a writer of personal essay. Not everything will apply to me, but there are lots of nuggets of great advice that I'll use. What resonates with me most about his personal philosophies about writing is how focused they are on emotional well being and self-care. He acknowledges how personal issues can derail a writer and gives practical advice for navigating those times. His writing is straight-forward and positive. I recommend this for any writer looking for produce more content and fine tune their writing routine.
