“The bloodthirsty original bifurcated (there’s one of your five dollar words) into two mythic streams, one dark and one light. The dark one had to do with the joys of plunder and murder (as in Jack chopping down the beanstalk, and the giant getting smooshed). The light one had to deal with what the writer called the “epistemology of Wittgensteinian Religious Belief,” and if you know what that one means even with its headlights on, you’re a better man than I am.”

God it was amazing, i was hooked on it since I started + the story you just fall in love with all characters. he’s so witty, and smart, charlie had so many surprises to him and he truly cared for everyone - it takes a lot of courage and it was just so sweet. i’m glad it turned out to be a bigger story than just a story about saving a dog. it was unimaginable.

Not my favorite of King’s. I just don’t think he did the world building in this book clearly enough. The lack of solid establishing left me feeling a bit lost towards the middle, and then uninterested. Took me a while to finish… third act is great but rushed compared to how everything else in the book is so drawn out. It was fine, just wouldn’t necessarily recommend or read again.

It's a great book I didn't wanna put it down. The last few chapters seamed to drag on but it finished nicely

A touch long (as king is wont to do), but such a great story and worldbuilding.

A great story and proof Mr. King understands what it's like to have a great dog.

I've only ever read one other Stephen King book (I'm a scaredy cat) and I loved it. After starting this one, it very quickly became one of my most favorite books, not just of his but ever, hands down. It's everything you want from a fairy tale and more. I keep thinking about it, and I'm sure it will haunt me for a long time. In a good way. I can't wait to read it again. And again.
