The matchmaker becomes the matched in Searching for Someday by Jennifer Probst. Kate Seymour owns a matchmaking company with her two good friends, and part of the secret to her success is her gift of feeling a “spark” when two people are supposed to be together. When she is confronted by divorce lawyer Slade Montgomery, who believes the company is scamming his little sister, she sets out to prove him wrong.

Jennifer Probst provides a charming love story between two people who on the surface seem to have very little in common. Slade is jaded in romance, he is a divorce lawyer and he has been through a divorce himself, and is very much a believer in statistics. Kate is a bit of a contradiction. She is trying to prove Slade wrong by finding him the perfect date but she doesn’t believe in love for herself. Although it was a quick, interesting read there was nothing that really stood out for me; it was like other romance stories except with an added group of interesting secondary characters that I would be interested in reading about.

Last year I tried Ms. Probst's Marriage to a Billionaire series. While I enjoyed the first one and own the other three, I haven't gone back to them yet. I keep meaning to but other books, galleys, and projects keep getting in the way. When I saw this one floating around online, I was really pleased by the premise. It has a hint of paranormal, witchy elements without being 'here's a witch' about it. I really liked that and I was so excited to read it, I started it right after downloading.

Kate has the touch. When she touches two people can she feel their chemistry and know if it will work out. While she hates her ability, she uses it on occasion around people in her business. Kate's a matchmaker with her two best friends (sequel fodder) and when she gets a brand-new client, her client's brother jumps in screaming fraud. Slade, a divorce attorney, doesn't believe in love or matchmaking. When Kate won't terminate his sister's contract, he signs up to prove she's a fraud. Soon sparks are flying when Kate and Slade 'aren't' falling in love.

I really liked Kate. She was the kind of woman I could identify with but also aspire to. She had a budding business, a stable homelife, but she wanted love and commitment. She wanted someone to accept all of her yet respect her desires. I loved her outlook on life and how she was a huge softie, but also knew when to put her foot down. I loved her dog, Robert, who had to use a scooter to go outside. The fact she took him in and loved him was just breathtaking. I love my dog and I just loved seeing that love in front me in a book.

Slade was hot! Okay that's not the best selling point in the end but he was! I loved having a guy who fundamentally didn't believe in love, falling in love obviously and denying it. It was so funny to see him time and time again discount love while he was clearly in love with Kate. He loved his sister and giving back to people in his career and that made him such an awesome hero.

There was this scene I thought had the potential for such a hot, hot, hot erotic scene, I'm still thinking about it days later. In the scene Slade went to an exercise class with Kate, her friend, and two other guys. It was a hot yoga class and there were all these sweaty guys and contortions and such. First kiss alert! At the same time I was like "Have sex on a mat! Have sex on a mat!" It was just so damn sexy and I wanted more and more and more. I actually had to remind myself this was Jennifer Probst, not Jeffe Kennedy (seriously check this woman's sex scenes!). I just wanted a blow out hot, sweaty sex.

I love it when books sort of inject magic and wonder into situations that don't necessarily need them. There wasn't life or death situations or vampires running around. It was just simple magic infused into an otherwise Contemporary work. The addition of Kate's ability of touch was something I wish had been integrated deeper into the original series. The series did connect at a friend party and I really wish Kate had been deeply involved before now. I love simple magic and having her lose it after denying Slade as her 'one' was so deeply metaphorical, I just loved it. The idea of the loss of something so inherently a part of her due to her denying a physical part of her "Slade" was interesting and touching at the same time. I loved the play.

This was an excellent beginning to a series and it blew my mind. The romance was pure magic and I couldn't wait to see how the actual magic would make a contemporary story more wonderous. I think this is a great romance for anyone to read. It's not bogged down with heavy mythology or simple cuteness. I think it is totally worth checking out and it is one of my top picks (thus far) for October. It's going to be hard to beat in Contemporary romances with a magic twist.

*I received a free ARC of Searching for Someday from Pocket Books via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review*

Stunning and fun contemporary romance, with very deep undertones of daring to risk it all for true love.

I won this book in a goodreads contest. On the surface, the idea of just a bit of paranormal in an otherwise normal chick-lit/romance novel interested me. Kate Seymour has "the touch", where if she touches two people that are soul mates, she gets a shock. This runs in her maternal family line, except for all of her ancestors except one it only happens when they touch their own soul mate. Kate has turned "the touch" into a business, with two of her best friends, by starting a matchmaking service.

Slade Montgomery is a divorce lawyer that doesn't believe in lasting love, but in oxytocin, a feel good hormone the body produces after sex or eating some really good chocolate. He first comes to Kinnections, Kate's matchmaking service, because his sensitive sister has joined up. To prove that Kinnections is a scam, he signs up to prove they can't find love for him.

Obviously, it's not an easy road for the confirmed cynic and wide eyed optimist. But they feel a pull toward each other from their very first meeting. That pull is confirmed the first time they touch, he is her soul mate.

There were points in the book that I felt things jumped around, perhaps building up for the next book but also showing the lives of some of the Marriage to a Billionaire series players, which this book and series are a.spin off from. I've not read those books, but the way the players from them are integrated works somewhat smoothly, though it does feel a bit forced. Also, the interactions with Genevieve, Kate's other best friend, seemed to be more about a possible future book rather than the current one.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book, and actually already have. I'll also be watching for the next book in the series, as that I want to see how life turns out for the three best friends, Kennedy, Arilyn, and Gen. I'd have liked to have seen a few things done differently, to make the story flow a little better, but I really liked the story told.

Favorite character: Robert, the sweet, lovable Pit Bull rescue with no back legs. That sounds absolutely horrible, and what happened to that sweet baby is a horrible thing. But, Kate takes this sweet guy in and loves him as no one else could!!

I read a couple of positive reviews about this book about funny bantering between hero and heroine, great closely connected group of friends and how romance was slow-building and was finally convinced to give it a chance.
Final conclusion: It was not bad but nothing spectacular. I think the book would have been better without the introduction of paranormal elements to the story. Why it could not have been plain and simple contemporary romance?

In the end, Searching for Someday had some nice messages about never giving up in your search for love and how everyone should be given a second chance.

Recommended for fans of contemporary romance novels featuring: soul mates, opposites attract, self-dependent successful heroines, sexy businessman heroes, cute pets...

If you think that working in the field of love is hard... How about convincing an older brother that what you do is real and not some contrived way to get people's money. All in all a very good book...

I loved this book - there were so many elements that *could* have gone horribly wrong but that I thought stayed in such great balance.

Slade and Kate were quite enjoyable as they stood on two opposing sides of the love question. I liked that they both gave *not* being together an honest shot, Slade because he agreed to give the dating program his best effort and Kate because of her need to be professional. I liked that the slight paranormal twist gave them more fodder to argue over.

The only bit of the book that I disliked was the drop-in that Kate's mom does and that is very poorly timed. It felt too much like a device solely to throw a monkey wrench into things rather than an organic moment.

I liked Kate's friends and will look for their stories in future books (I believe Probst recently did a cover reveal for the second in the series and it's a gorgeous cover too).
