3.4 AVERAGE

3.5 Stars. So, here’s the dirty. I enjoyed the first half of this book. It follows the movie basically scene by scene for the most part so it was very nostalgic. The first couple chapters of the sequel definitely kept me interested but the rest leaves a lot to be desired. I know Winnie uses silly words about her sisters and the kids during the movie but I think they went way overboard in the sequel and it just got weird. This is why the original is always the best I guess!

While a bit gimmicky, this book was a delightful sequel to a well-beloved movie!

Yeah...listen. retelling of the movie is fine. The sequel leaves a bit to be desired.

Part 1: The novelization of Hocus Pocus was the perfect balance of the story we know and love plus some extra bits to expand on the characters, and help introduce the sequel.

Part 2: The sequel was fun and goofy, even if a little cheesy. I very much appreciated the diversity as well. A wonderful way for us to re-live the magic of Hocus Pocus with a new twist.

Honestly I liked it alot. I like that they added a little to the original story and they made a very good sequel. I wish the hocus pocus 2 had the same plot as this sequel

Was not expecting this but surprisingly liked it very much!

Well, Part 1 is just the movie rehashed, with tiny little innocuous tidbits thrown in. Part 2 starts out interesting, but it is as though they're trying to hard to check all the boxes of a 'modern' teen story. It falls apart pretty quickly for me.

You know, this story wasn't as terrible as I read in a few reviews. I too grew up with Hocus Pocus in my life, and I to was very picky about my sequel; and you know what? They did a fantastic job. The pacing was quick, the voice very easy to read. It held a lot of the tone of the original. All in all it's a very good story, and I hope Freeform is making the movie!
