Another fun adventure with Lady Georgiana, this time dispatched by the Queen to the French Riviera in order to retrieve a purloined snuffbox. Georgie has no idea how she will possibly manage such a thing but she's happy enough to escape the grey chill of London for a warmer climate. It's always fun to see how the author will manage to pull in Georgie's cast of supporting characters, no matter where she travels, however there wasn't enough Darcy this time around. Georgie also makes a surprising discovery, the potential future storylines of which get nixed almost immediately. If this were a more serious series, I'd be more disappointed and annoyed at never seeing this explored. But this just isn't that type of deep, introspective series so it's all good.

Another fun Royal Spyness mystery. Georgiana's adventures are always so preposterous...but so fun, too! One of the best written cozy series I've read.

Naughty in Nice
4 Stars

Asked by the Queen to recover a stolen snuff box, Lady Georgiana Rannoch jumps at the opportunity to escape dreary London for the sunshine of Nice. The trouble starts when Georgie stumbles across a body and is accused of murder. Can she clear her name before she causes a diplomatic incident?

As always, Bowen's never misses a trick in her satirical descriptions of the British upper classes and this time her focus in on the spoiled and wealthy (or those pretending to be wealthy) living it up on the French Riviera. As Georgie hobnobs with the likes of Coco Chanel and Wallace Simpson, she manages to find the time to do a little sleuthing. While her investigative skills are improving, she still overlooks many of the obvious clues and finds herself in dire situations.

On the romance side, Georgie learns something troubling about Darcy and he is MIA for most of the book. Hopefully, their relationship will progress more significantly in the next book.

All in all, Georgie's adventures are always good for a laugh, and this is no exception.

Series of light and fluffy cosy mysteries. The heroine, Lady Georgiana has been set another problem to solve by the Queen who is her great aunt. The Queen was Mary, the wife of King George V, the story being based in the 1930s.
This time the problem was that a snuff box which was stolen by a Buck House guest which Georgiana was to get back without the involvement of the police.
Light and fun, with little hints of future events, ie plenty of Edward and Mrs Simpson talk.

Georgie is being a idiot again and man do I hate Queenie, she is the most annoying character and apparently we are going to have to keep dealing with her. You can skip this one.

This is more of a rambling rant than a review.

As always, Bowen delivers a nice cozy read. But darn it Georgie deserves a handsome and rich marquis to dote on her instead of chasing after someone who doesn't stick around.

The book was fun, but it seems like the usual cast was kind of forced into there. It was nice getting to know Georgie's mother more, but there is hardly much character development on their part.

In the end though I will read anything from Bowen because I always love the pace and its just yummy to read.

It's funny to read other reviewers admit that this is their guilty pleasure, because that's kind of how I feel. The stories in the series are just frothy and not particularly deep. Georgie isn't a an especially good detective, either; she barely manages to (literally) stumble unto the clues that help her solve the mysteries. Speaking of which, the clumsiness is getting a bit tiresome. I know that's a character trait of hers, but it's starting to get a little bit ridiculous. Regardless, this is a nice, light mystery series that's perfect for anyone who wants a bit of fun.
