Georgie is gaining some confidence and daring on coming to Nice. Fig and Binky have gone to stay with Fig's sister and her husband in Nice and left Georgie to close the house in town. Fig has also informed her that they would take her with them, but can't afford her ticket. Georgie is invited to dine with Queen Mary who tells her that she has a place for her to stay - with an elderly relative, just what Georgie doesn't want. She tells the Queen, when she asks, that she could stay with Binky and Fig in Nice but can't afford to get there. Then Queen Mary tells her that someone stole an antique snuff box from her collection and he is currently in Nice. She wants Georgie to go "recover" it and has her secretary arrange Georgie's travel plans and cover the tickets for her and her maid. On the train, Georgie meets Coco Chanel and another relative in the dining car and Coco declares she wants Georgie to model for her next show - the Queen has lent some of her jewels. Binky and Fig are staying in a dismal house with Ducky and Foggy (what names!) and Foggy is proving to be a letch. Then Georgie runs into Chanel and Vera and they insist she come stay with them at a friend's residence. Georgie also learns they thought they had seen her the day before - so someone is roaming around who looks like her. When she arrives at the chateau, she finds it is owned by her mother who is there as host!
Georgie and her mother get better acquainted and are learning to get along more. But she spies Darcy on the beach with a woman and child - which nearly breaks her heart. So she takes up with a charming French Marquis who is fabulously rich and takes an interest in her. Her mother's chalet is next door to the residence of the man who stole the Queen's snuff box - so here is her chance. Then the Queen's jewels are stolen during the fashion show and Georgie is beset on all sides with problems.....

Book in the Royal Spyness mystery series. The Queen sends Georgie to the Riviera to reclaim a stolen antique snuffbox. Unfortunately the thief is murdered and Georgie is the obvious suspect. Like any series, some books are better than others. I think this is one of the best in the series so far.

I love this series and the antics that Georgianna gets herself into. I’m trying to finish the series and I’m a few years behind.

I had to venture out to a remote library to procure this one (and the next couple in the series) so that I could keep up with the adventures of Lady Georgiana Ranch. In this installment, Georgie is serving in a soup kitchen since her brother and his wife Fig are staying at Rannoch House in London. When the Queen summons her and sends her to Nice on a secret mission, she is ecstatic. The Riveria turns out to be full of people that Georgia encounters, including the infamous Coco Chanel. This was a run read, with a missing snuff box, a stolen necklace and of course, dead bodies :) Looking forward to the next one.

And the gang is off to another exotic location. While I love grandad, his involvement is becoming very unbelievable (not that I read/listen to this series for believability). Georgie takes some pretty big risks, but learning more about Darcy's background and Georgie's is fun. As is the inclusion of Chanel.
