I thoroughly enjoy this delightfully British mystery series set in the 30's. This installment Georgie (once again thanks to the Queen) is set out on special mission which takes her to Nice. There are plenty of twists and turns and hijinks occur as always. . Georgie, due to instances which I cannot discuss as it will ruin the story, begins a romance with a charming and sexy French man. I got a huge kick out of the introduction of Coco Chanel, which leads to Georgie FINALLY getting some much needed additions to her wardrobe. The setting is truly divine, and I now have an obsessive need to see Nice (Though lets face it, I truly believe this bookworm would be disappointed, as it won't be like it was in the 30's)I have mentioned on any occasions, that my love of this series is based on the fabulous characters, not the mystery itself. You won't be disappointed this time around as there are some delightful scenes with Belinda, Queenie, Darcy, and Georgies Mom and maternal grandfather. If you haven't had a chance, I highly recommend the audio versions of this series. Katherine Kellgren does a brilliant job of bringing to life each and every character

The mystery was one of the best in the series. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough of Darcy
Georgie finds herself frozen by the English winter and Fig's move to close up Rannoch house for a vacation in the Riviera. So, when the queen gives Georgie a mission to retrieve a stolen snuffbox and keep an eye on the prince, Georgie finds herself basking in the French sun and pursued by a wealthy and handsome marquis. However, the loss of a valuable royal necklace, complications on her mission, an arrest for murder, and the possibility that Darcy has a secret family cast a shadow over the festivities. With the help of Coco Chanel, Mummy, her grandfather, Darcy, and a French Surete officer, they uncover the murderer and expose a theft/forgery plot.
As always with this series, a lovely bit of silliness.
Really enjoyed this one. Loved the appearance of Coco Chanel.
I adore this series. Such a relief getting back to a smart, funny, resourceful heroine after being subjected to a bunch of Mary Sues in recent reads.
After the dark and moody crime novel of my previous post, it was time for a little light and froth. What better than the latest Lady Georgianna in what is now being called the Royal Spyness series. In this book, it is January, cold, depressing and Lady Georgianna is living in her family's London home, unfortunately with her brother and his pregnant wife, Fig. (We learn her real name in this book. It's NOT pretty!) Georgie is told that we will have to go back to the cold & very drafty family castly because the family is closing up the house for a while. They have been invited to stay with Fig's family at their villa on the Riviera. As the impoverished royals that they are, this is godsend for them. However, they claim they cannot afford to pay for Georgie's trip. At the same time the queen requests that she visit. When Georgie tells her of her plight, she has two thoughts: she can attend an elderly British princess OR go to the Riviera and get back a valuable snuffbox that a rather nasty but wealthy man stole from the queen during a visit. Silly? Yes. Fun, also yes. Georgie reconnects with her mother quite by accident, not to mention meeting Coco Chanel who wants her for a model, plus takes quite a shine to her. This book was a lot of fun and a quick read! Enjoy.
