This addition was a perfect rounding off of "Losing It". After finishing Losing It, I found myself desiring to find out what happened with the characters that I had fallen in love with; and I was delighted to find out that this was a thing. I downloaded it immediately and got to reading it and I absolutely loved it.
This novel is set after Losing It. The couple are heading towards London in order to meet Garrick's family and it's fair to say that it's playing on both of their minds. Will they be able to cope with the stress and tribulations of meeting such a difficult family or will their relationship be able to withstand it? The two head to London and immediately the drama sets off. Despite how this novella is one of the shortest that I've read; it truly is short and sweet and if it were to be any longer, I'd have possibly thought it unnecessary. I love how short Cora Carmack wrote this. So much happening in such a short space of time kept me on my toes, kept me interested and kept me truly invested in the story and I didn't for one moment skim the page whilst thinking "wow, I wish something would happen" so props to you, Cora!
There were a good number of twists and turns throughout the course of this to keep me fully entertained and interested and it added more depth to the relationship - we saw them go through traumatic and worrying times whilst watching them also go through the best time of their lives and it was extremely interesting to see how they managed all of these things and to watch how their relationship grew as a result of this. I loved learning more about the characters (especially Garrick) and I loved seeing relationships between Bliss and Garrick's family develop - it made the characters more interesting, more relatable and just well rounded. It was nice to see such a large amount actually dedicated to Garrick's family - I was expecting there to be minimal content including Bliss's growing relationship with his mother, for example, but I was blown away just how much Carmack developed the relationship there as well as developing Bliss's and Garrick's. Another point to you, Cora!
I loved how it was written and I particularly favoured seeing it in Garrick's point of view - it was nice to see it from his POV and helped me to connect with his character even more and I can officially say that Garrick is on my fictional boyfriends list! Yay! Reading his thoughts gave him depth for me and it was something that Losing It was lacking; I needed to see more from Garrick's point of view and it is done in such a clever and useful way that I couldn't actually find anything to pick at.
The only complaint is that I felt it was rounded off a little too quickly; things seemed to be resolved at a snap of their fingers, but I suppose that's part of the charm - hence why this only knocked .5* off of my overall rating.
If you have read losing it, I would recommend you pick this up even if you didn't particularly like losing it. It is well worth the read and it could well sway you into "shipping" the couple harder (it did that with me, that's for sure!)As a side note: I think I'm in love with Cora Carmack's writing; she's truly fabulous.
Definitely give it a try!

As much as I loved Losing It, I also enjoyed this novella, however this one felt a little bit too predictable for me.
This was again a very fun and entertaining read but something was missing...

Pretty cute novella! I loved getting to "meet" Garrick's family and friends!
The ending felt super rushed but other than that, I enjoyed it.
Much better than the first novel as well. The in between drama, a bit too much. But I loved the rest of it :) Garrick's friends' were awesome . Maybe we will get another novel set in London?

What worked: Ah, Bliss. How I've missed your socially inept little face. We still have her frantic and insecure voice but in Keeping Her, we have the added bonus of having Garrick's POV woven in as well!
Bliss is a protagonist after my own heart. She's clumsy, she's insecure but she's feisty. And in England, she's out of her comfort zone. Garrick's hilarious school friends join us on the minefield of meeting the in-laws and all of the people who have shaped Garrick into the man Bliss loves.
Cora Carmack knows how to create real characters and it's no different with Bliss. In Losing It, she takes a massive step in losing her virginity and she doesn't magically turn into the perfect girlfriend who knows all of the unwritten relationship rules. Thank. God.
She still makes mistakes, she still stumbles under her own self-doubt but as always Garrick is there to hold her hand and walk her through it.
I won't spoil anything for you but I truly believe that in Keeping Her, we see them go into uncharted territory for both of them. It's watching how they react as a couple and deal with all of these little curve balls that proves they belong together. I mean, if you can fly across the Atlantic, offend your future mother-in-law in approximately 0.5 seconds and still live to tell the tale, you're laughing. The whole series so far are smushy little love stories that bring out my optimistic side and leave me swooning long after the last page has been turned.
What irked: Although it was a little short, I felt like the words used were the right ones and it was the perfect length but I can't help feel like a little pizzazz was missing. It didn't have that sparkle I need for a five star rating. My mind is not in bits on the floor...it may have seeped out of my ears a little but Keeping Her didn't blow me away unfortunately.

So I really liked Losing It, which started this whole series. I thought the romance between Bliss and Garrick was sweet and quirky and it was just a really fun read. Of course I was interested in seeing what happened for them after the events of Losing It!
In Keeping Her we meet both of them again, they've been together for a year now and got engaged and are now travelling to London to meet up with Garrick's parents. And Bliss is basically a basket case because of it. She's nervous and awkward and just generally not really presentable at the end. And really, I mean, how did either of them think it would be a good idea to arrive at Garrick's parents' after they'd had a drink? Or rather, LOTS of drinks? I mean, that drunk doesn't make for the best first impression.
But I really disliked Garrick's parents. I mean, his father is basically a pompous ass and his mother is trying to make Bliss feel inferior. And these are people who are supposed to love Garrick and want what's best for him and that usually means that they'd try and make a fiancée feel welcome. Yeah, not gonna happen here. His mother even invited ex-girlfriends. So. Not. Cool.
While I liked reconnecting with these two, I didn't really thought this novella added much to the general storyline. I mean, it's cute to see them be all lovey-dovey, but that spark that was there in Losing It was just a little lost here. I did like seeing Garrick's home turf so to speak and it was a really quick read, but I would have liked a little more. It ended rather abruptly after some big drama got resolved and I was just a bit like: that's it?
My rating: 2,5 stars
Made me crave: over too quickly to make me crave much of anything

I am so in love with this series so when I finished Faking It and found out there would be a novella as well I was overjoyed, even more so when I received it on Edelweiss!
Keeping Her is about Garrick and Bliss which I was really excited about. I felt there was so much more to their story and I couldn’t wait to get a glimpse of that. The couple travels to London to see Garrick’s family, this is also the first time that Bliss is meeting them and true to Garrick/Bliss form there are a few hiccups along the way.
I need to start off by saying that I’m a little bit over Bliss. I really liked her in Losing It but now that they have been together for quite some time, live together and are actually engaged the freaking out, embarrassed act that she has sometimes drives me nuts. I understand it’s nerve-wracking to meet your fiancé’s parents for the first time but she was being a bit irrational. I don’t know, maybe I looked too much into that.
I did enjoy the story however, it was cute and a good little addition to their story. It’s absolutely not necessary to read Keeping Her as it doesn’t have any plot developments but it’s fun to read. I liked meeting Garrick’s family, friends and seeing where he comes from but I’ve had enough of their story now and I’m ready for Finding Her!
