I liked the fast pace of the book.  It had me on the edge of my seat at a couple points.  I felt the claustrophobia.  I felt dread.  Only took me a couple days to read, so it entertained.  I did find the characters to be unforgettable.  I kept getting them confused with each other.  One dimensional.  Doesn't mean I didn't feel for them when bad things happened.  I only need to be entertained to get joy out of a book, and this fit the bill.  I'll definitely read more by the author.

i was really enjoying this one at first, and while i understand that it's supposed to be a chaotic and fast-paced story, the constant jumping between POVs and introducing new POV characters before diving into a chapter-length flashback from the 'main' protagonists completely threw me out. also, the 11-year old daughter talks and acts like she's 16?

i don't know, the first few chapters were great but i put the book down for a few days, and the more i thought about picking it back up, the more frustrated i grew with the storytelling choices. the sudden flashback felt very lost-esque to me. yes, i know, it's a story about a plane crash but, like... is will the engineer not just jack shepherd the surgeon? both wicked smart and thrust into leader roles to ensure everyone's survival?

anyway, i'm sure this is a great book for most thriller readers, there were just a few things that completely broke my immersion from the story and i couldn't get it back.

Als je niet dacht dat het erger zou kunnen, ontstaat er weer een groter probleem. Het einde maakte mij wel een beetjjeeee emotioneel

Just a few minutes after takeoff, everything goes wrong. An airplane leaving Hawaii has to make an emergency landing in the ocean.

While some were able to escape, they don’t all survive due to drowning or the gas fire started by the crash. The rest are sunk precariously on an ocean cliff 200+ meters down but alive. Military, engineers, and even the mother and wife of two of the passengers trapped aboard, must work together to save the dozen remaining passengers aboard.

This book was intense and had a great flow. There was never a slow moment.
