I actually wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to carry on with it after the first few chapters because the crash and sinking of the plane gave me the most horrific anxiety but I’m so glad I persevered because oh my GOD - talk about unputdownable?! This book is the very definition of the word.

‘Drowning’ has you on tenterhooks from start to finish. There isn’t a single dull moment. Even the bits where there is technical talk - Newman sneakily dumbs it down for us by having the technical people explain it to the non-technical people in the book. Sneaky and effective!

I did find myself getting a little bit confused with some of the characters sometimes, but ultimately it worked itself out in my brain and I was clear on the people who mattered. I didn’t think I was going to get overly attached to any of them as you don’t really know much about their back stories, but I spent the final 20 minutes of reading the book sobbing uncontrollably so… 👀

How this hasn’t been snapped up by a film studio yet I do not know - it would be an absolute blockbuster!
