This was fun, if predictable. It had it's flaws, such as some not well-researched ideas (e.g. EpiPens are great but they're not magic, among other things), one-note characters, and an overly cheesy ending. But, the author set out to make one thing and one thing only: a fast-paced sugar-rush of high tension and emotional drama. It was pretty easy to let the issues I had fly by alongside the rocketing pace. And, ultimately, I had fun. If you enjoy these sort of straightforward action-dramas, this is a quick and entertaining read!

I went into this expecting an exhilarating ride, but sadly, it didn’t quite land for me. Maybe the audiobook played a part—I listened to it while reading, and I think it might’ve dulled the experience. I struggled to really connect with the characters, and the story felt a bit longer than it needed to be. I might give it another shot someday, this time without the audiobook, to see if it hits differently.

TJ Newman is excellent at writing books that grip you by the throat, cripple you with anxiety, then just as you think you can breathe again, rips your heart out of your chest. This book terrified me over and over again (in the very best way), especially with all the claustrophobic possibilities. And I adored it!
