This is an INTENSE thriller! Especially if you have any anxiety when it comes to airplanes and flying - Drowning is just going to feed right into that. Absolutely an edge-of-your-seat reading experience, and if you're looking for a thrill ride - this one is for you. Is it the most groundbreaking novel you'll ever read? Or even the most groundbreaking thriller? No. But it's still a really solid one. I haven't read the author's previous novel, Falling, but now I definitely want to check it out as well.

Not sure if this book is worthy of 5 stars but…. honestly? I loved it. No critiques, truly. I mean, it’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect and there really wasn’t any room for any plot twists because like… A plane crash. A father, his daughter, and some other people trapped inside a plane that sinking underwater. A rescue mission partially led by his soon to be ex-wife. You kinda expect shit to go from bad to worse.

From a story perspective, the character development was fantastic for what it was. It wasn’t necessarily predictable but also it wasn’t not predictable? Like I finished and was like okay yeah this all checks out. I literally could not put this book down, for sure a quick, easy, and exciting read. Also this book low key got really deep really quick (no pun intended) so like.. if you’ve experienced the loss of a loved one.. low key be prepared to be in your feels for a minute or two because the author definitely talks about the struggles of life after losing someone. Final note, the character who I hated the most didn’t survive so that was a huge slay. Also, 10/10 the most wholesome ending.

If you like suspense and want an easy read, 10/10 recommend this. I would 100% love to see this as a movie.

Favorite quote:

“He knew that pause. That split second when you wonder with confusion and pain—Do I use the present tense or past tense? Immediately after comes the guilt. The shame that you even considered moving their existence to the past. They were robbed of their future. How could you put what little you cling to every day—what little was left in the present—in the past?”

A tense, heart racing thriller. This book was a fast read that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Having so many characters made it hard to follow at certain times but overall a tense, enjoyable read.
