i really enjoyed the first half of this book, however the second half, and the reveals, fell flat to me. additionally, i feel that splitting the timeline impeded my enjoyment of the book, because it felt like there was not enough development in either timeline.

On one hand I get it, however…

This was a creepy little thriller with an interesting backstory. I did not see the big twist coming, which was good fun as the reader, though I found the eventual unveiling of who the killer(s) were to be really predictable. The dual timelines made for a nice reading experience, and it was easy to get sucked into the story. I struggled a bit with how unlikeable I found the narrator, but that was ultimately part of the charm of the book.

Predictable but very entertaining! I really enjoyed the minor through-line of our MC actively working against typical horror tropes - I’d love to see more of that.
