Was wäre wenn... Was wäre wenn...

I want them to make this a show. Or a film. Something. All those "plot holes" people keep talking about is in this. A few reviewers even say this book is pointless. Why? Because it makes the sequels canon?

There was so much lore in this book. It explained so much everyone was complaining about in rise of Skywalker. I loved this book!

I am giving this 5.. not a completely blew me away type 5 or an emotional wreck type 5 but the kind of 5 stars that a book that is both epic and purposeful deserves(not to mention fun).

I would wager that I'm not the only person who has been waiting ages for another canon novel starring Luke (we have Heir to the Jedi which is solid and a few junior books but nothing quite like this) and this book really delivers by expanding so much to Luke's story post RoTJ and Landos as well. Admittedly it now leaves me yearning for more stories about Luke ( particularly him meeting Komat and turning them from the Darkside and healing her kyber crystal)

Furthermore this novel expands the Sith of Canon in a remarkable way, introducing us to a new Sith Lords spirit and delivering us more lore about others like Noctyss. I hope we get to learn more of these ancient Sith in the future.

As for the tie-in elements to the sequels I think it serves its purpose well, Rey's parents have more meaning to me now than before and I don't hate the connection to Palpatine at all. I think many of us were disappointed in it because it felt disjointed and like a rip-off of Dark Empire but this novel gives Dathan and Miramir actual merit and substance and I now feel my opinion has changed.

I credit Christopher here with a great swath of redemption for JJ's mistakes in Episode 9. Well done.

Fantastic read for those who want to know more about people and places from the Rise of Skywalker. I especially liked getting to know more about Exegol and Rey's parents. It was amazing to me how close Luke was to meeting Rey! Oh and of course getting scenes of teenager Ben Solo just stole my heart!

I really enjoyed the story overall. Lando and Luke adventures was something I didn't know I needed and now I need more of! Ochi of Bestoon definitely ended up being a surprise as an antagonist and I enjoyed him very much. My favorite were Komat and Kiza, both extremely interesting characters with their own stories. The only thing that didn't resonate with me was the story of Rey and her parents.
