I love seeing this world grow and seeing where the overarching story is headed piece-by-piece.

I can't tell you how hard this was to just listen to a few chapters at a time. The husband and I usually listen to Molly Harper's books when we travel. WE couldn't wait until the end of October. Every night when we went to bed we would listen to a couple of chapters. It drew out the awesomeness of the story. It made it difficult not to stay up until we finished it.

Mystic Bayou Novels never disappoint. The rift is changing some of the human residents in the small town. Have no fear there are those in power that want to fix the rift. Have lots of fear because there are those that want the rift to rip apart and change the lives of all humans.

Sonja has been in all of the books but this is her love story. As Jillian's executive assistant she is more than what people might think. She has shown no interest in any of the shifters. She has gotten really good and rejecting advances. When Dr. Will Camody walks in for an appointment she knows nothing about Sonja's life gets very interesting. It is not necessarily for the better.

If you have read or listened to the previous stories you won't want to miss out on this one. The reader finally finds out why the League has been coming up against obstacle after obstacle in repairing the rift. It isn't over yet. I fear it will get much worse before it gets better. I can't wait for the next installment. I might just need to plan a trip around the release. I don't think I can listen to just a couple of chapters a night again. It was torture waiting, wondering.

I enjoy seeing Sonia in action. She's a strong woman who knows her worth and value in all she does. And she does work great magic at her job, even though she's human and no magic about her. She's amazing at keeping things organized and running smoothly in the office.

This book felt like it flowed nicely for Sonia and Will. A little bit of a bumpy start, but that gets ironed out pretty quick. And they find a nice easy rhythm they fall into with work and getting to know each other. Will has a few family issues from when he was growing up, and that creates a speed bump for him and Sonia.

The thing I'm always curious about with the romance is the Rift. The Rift felt to take a back seat to the romance of Sonia and Will. Which makes sense as Sonia isn't one to work at the Rift, she's administrative. Though, being so great at her job, Sonia does find some discrepancies in the reports that catch her eye and she ends up investigating them. The investigation is short lived, though it does lead to trouble.

Are you looking for romance? This is one for you.

I knew Sonya was going to be a better heroine, she’s badass without being magical, and Will seems like a bit of an improvement over previous MC’s. A bit illogical jump from being standoffish to private admissions of love-you’s. But that’s an issue with all of these, but Sonya definitely raised the bar here, I even felt some connection to the plot line and had some moments even I’d admit are humorous.
