I very much enjoy the audiobooks in this series during my commute or going about my day. I can't say they are my favourite paranormal/urban fantasy books yet they are cosy and comforting, full of endearing characters and unique magi creatures finding love at the Mystic Bayou.

This is a beautiful continuation of the mystic bayou series. It was nice to hear more about other shifters and i enjoyed hearing that
a human can get close to the rift without turning into a magic
the side criminal stories are entertaining and always a surprise. It’s a nice way to connect the whole series.

I did enjoy this, i just felt the Male Mc Will was lacking a bit he wasnt as fun as the others.... Maybe because he is new to the series, still i loved the story of the two characters.

We return to the charming and crazy town of Mystic Bayou in Selkies are a Girl’s Best Friend. The story picks up a little after the previous titles. I’d recommend reading/listening in order.

The story focuses on Sonja, Jillian’s best friend who runs the League office and has found a home in the Bayou.

Mystic Bayou is in desperate need of a medical doctor and the League hires, Will, who is an original resident, but moved away. He’s a bit hesitant to return home, but he knows it’s what his selkie nature needs.

It’s another fun and wild ride through the paranormal haven of Mystic Bayou. I like that previous characters continue to play important roles in the plot and that the story is part romance and part rift related.

The romance is instant attraction and sweet. Will has trouble trusting others and Sonja is self-sufficient. They find common ground, have a few missteps, but in the end a romance and trust develop.

The rift continues to be an issue that is mounting. The bad guys are obvious, yet it’s still fun to dive deeper into the rift and what is happening to the residents of Mystic Bayou

Narration: As with the previous novels in the series, the story is shared in dual narration. We have Amanda Ronconi reading Sonja’s POV and Jonathan Davis reading Will’s POV. I find that the more I listen to this series the duel narration has grown on me. At first I wasn't a fan, but now it works. Overall both did a great job.

Sulkies are a Girl's Best Friend was another fun audio that will keep you wrapped up in the story.

Rated: 4 Stars

Have I read the previous 2? Nope
Where there a backstory that I missed? Yes
Did I feel left out? Nope!

It is not that hard to figure things out and just go with it.

Sonja works in a weird ass place. She gets a new coworker, a hot one. Sparks fly, after a while.

Her boss and best friend seems fun, I'd like to see how she met her dragon.

But yes the book is not that long so the drama is at a minimum, which I like. They fall in love and there is some danger that I really can't say anything about. Oh and some drama regarding his other form.

I enjoyed it and it did want me want to read more from this series.

Ronconi is great, I so want to listen to more things by her. She has this great soothing voice.

Davis did Will's parts and I have not listened to him before, but he did a good job narrating too.

Sonja Fong has been an intriguing character since we met her in the earlier books and now we get to find out a bit more about her. Everybody knows a Sonja; super smart, efficient and a snappy dresser. She is about as close to a fish out of water in a Louisiana bayou as you can get. When she meets Dr. Will Camody wearing a $4000 suit its like they were made for each other. Like the others in this series this story is filled with laughter, magic and love. I heartily recommend and look forward to future installments.

I always enjoy visiting Mystic Bayou and its unique residents. The narrators, Amanda Ronconi and Jonathan Davis, are fabulous and have guaranteed that I will listen to all of Molly Harper's books.
