Everyone has a side they don't show anyone else
Poor Hori is overworked. I mean, it's hard to take care of a toddler.
Miya seems to slowly heal Hori with his encouraging words and actions, and I think that's all that counts in the end; she needs acknowledgement.
It's funny how both Miya and Hori are different from their school appearance.

The period joke imao, and when she said, but you don't have a uterus 😂.

Seems like these four will be a friend group.

I was hoping reading the manga would give me some more insight into the anime (which I've already seen), but unfortunately I just don't think I'm compelled by slice-of-life high school stories anymore. It was fine, but it's very generic and kind of feels like a ripoff of Kare Kano (girl and boy have different personalities at school and at home, only can be their true selves around each other).

This was so cute! The anime definitely left some cute parts out lol

It’s fine!

Horimiya follows two high school students, Hori and Miyamura, who accidentally reveal the selves they've been hiding from their classmates to each other. While Hori is usually extremely put together at school, at home she's more relaxed and spends her evenings taking care of her younger brother. Miyamura, on the other hand, is usually gloomy and quiet at school and wears glasses, but outside of school he's pierced, loses the glasses, and gives off a more punk look. The two bond and develop a friendship after Miyamura helps Hori's younger brother out, and this friendship perhaps leads to something more.

This isn't my first time reading Horimiya, I picked it up a few years ago but ended up putting the series down because I thought the characters went through some major personality changes down the line, and the story definitely starts meandering and becomes a lot more slice-of-life as it progresses. I'm not the first to express this sentiment, but rereading this volume several years later has me confused as to why I felt that way because even this first volume is very slice-of-life, and while Hori's "aggressive" behaviour becomes more prominent later on, it's still present here and now. But anyways, that's just me rambling.

I've always really liked Daisuke Hagiwara's art style, there's something very clean looking about it and I appreciate that all the characters look pretty distinctive. But where Horimiya, really shines is with its characters. They're all extremely likeable and the chemistry between them all is super believable. I also really love that Hori and Miyamura start off this series really getting to know each other, and becoming close friends. The progression of their relationship just feels very organic and it's something I love about this series. I also really enjoyed Miyamura's character development, and watching him befriend more people. He's easily my favourite character in the series and I'm looking forward to more of his interactions with the others.
