Too much harem/midlife male wish fulfillment for me. I usually dont mind some romance...this was kind of creepy. Wont read the rest of the series.

dnf after 70%.
The scores of easy but digital women fawning over the fedora tipping main character (not even joking) was bad enough.
The white knighting throughout was over the top.
I understand this is a fantasy world, and the narration was excellent. But both are not enough for ne to continue.

Fortunately I've read author's more recent work before, so I know he did somewhat improve on the flaws present in this one... White knight vibe also did not work for me.

Stopped 65% in after the book became a mix of poor ideas of what flirting is and sex fantasies with more or less nothing else happening - the MC had been killed twice by an assassin paid by a NPC the MC humiliated. The MC then reach a -1 standing with the family and they decided to hire an assassin. What kind of game is that? I mean, if the rest of the world was really gritty, then maybe, but this is just poor, poor writing.
Also, 8 hours of grinding to get from level 11 to level 12 in a MMORPG? Please.

Such a good book. I don't usually like the soft core aspect of this book and to be honest I would liked it more without it, but I'll finish the series.
