Nice plot, world setting and historical accuracy. But the main character shifts dramatically from strong independent intelligent woman to a piece of whet cloth with no thoughts or agency of her own. Not sure why?

Was not vibing with the story, pace was way too slow for me. Also did not like the romance, felt a little bit weird and wasn’t enjoying the direction it was going.

Vampires, witches, and a society trying to keep it all secret. The only thing that confused me was if two or more paranormals were too close, it would cause the humans to be suspicious. Harkness, I felt, didn't really expand on that all too much but it was the least of my concerns in this book.
Matthew was a bit much, but not morally grey. Just a very old, occasionally grumpy vampire
