Although I really didn't enjoy her book about the wandering senior very much at all, I really liked this book. As a life long music lover, and especially of little out of the way music shops such as the one portrayed here, I was drawn to this book from the synopsis. Frank, the main character has a gift in which he knows just the music someone needs, and it's wonderful to have a soundtrack to this book, as I played the music he referred to in the chapters and it added a whole other depth to this story. Recommend.

I don’t think I can write a proper enough review to encapsulate my feelings. As someone who loves music and feels music very similarly to Frank, this book brought me a lot of joy despite it being kind of melancholy.

As you read, you recognize where it’s going. The sadness. The loneliness. The loss of community.

But you love Frank, so you keep going. And you don’t regret it.

Such a lovely read. I’m pretty sure it’s raining on my face.

I love when people have this thing in their life that they are so very passionate about and share it with others in a bid to make their life happy too. Frank’s thing is vinyl music. This is the story of how that love leads him to many other amazing things, a shop, a community, and a woman.

The prose and sweet and light but the book feels slight and sloppy. All the characters have forced motivations and the conclusion is rushed and unrealistic. Joyce's hold on music and its effects on people is the most interesting aspect to the book. Its one of those that you really want to like, but in the end, it leaves you unsatisfied.

This book is like watching a romcom; enjoyable, light-hearted and a bit predictable. A bit frustrating in places, the characters don't tell each other basic information about themselves which didn't really make sense ..... But if you gloss over that then it's still enjoyable.

This was a really heart warming read. I found all the characters considerably endearing and the reader really cares about the plight of their shops and their futures. I for one was heartbroken when we got to the final part and learned what has become of Frank.

A very solid and enjoyable read.
