I tried to see it through, but it just kept getting worse.

O.k., i was wrong.I thought this was another "fifty" book. But i take that back.I enjoy this book very much. It's very well written.
Mr Jesse Ward is too much sometimes.
Ava is..i don't know...to week,but i don't dislike her.
Why i really like this book? It's because of Jesse's soft side and glimpses of his vulnerability. That is intriguing and makes me wonder why? What happend? So many questions are left open.Who the hell is Sarah?
And..how old are you Jesse Ward!????

I don't know if it's because of how empowered I feel in my relationship but this book is everything a feminist would hate about our society tightly knit into 300 pages of sex, crazy control freaks, and a weak spirited woman. She is side tracked by lust every times she's upset, she let's him get his way without punishment for most of the crazy bullshit he does. There is almost no communication between them which leads to the ill fated end of the novel and there really is no chemistry between these two people besides lust. If you're going to write a romance novel at least have some development of a relationship and not just sex every 20 pages....

Jesse Ward is intense, controlling, possessive but at the same time the greatest thing that might have happened to Ava.
Another amazing book by Jodi that I could not put down for a single moment.

I can sum this book up pretty well, I think. A not quite as good, British version of the Fifty Shades series meets the Crossfire series. It's OK, even though Jesse and Ava as a couple often grated my nerves. Perhaps that had more to do with Ava's voice than anything else. Even though I assume she's fairly intelligent based on her job and success, she just seems... empty most of the time. Makes it a little hard to justify Jesse's fascination with her most of the time, but a good read, anyway.

Prečo sa všetky prvé časti kníh musia končiť takto? *tears*

This book came highly recommended from several book friends, so despite my reluctance to read it, (any book cover that strikes similarities with FSOG gets a thumbs down from me) I delved into it with open arms. They immediately closed, crossing my chest as I puffed exasperatedly.

So, it takes a while to get going, a lot of books do, but Ava is promising, right? Successful career, older than the normal leading ladies, NOT a virgin. So, why then, when confronted with Jesse and his beauty that trumps all other beauties, does she become a blithering idiot? Through the course of the book she is more and more beguiled by Jesse to the point where she is unable to say a single thing to defend herself or to argue her point. She is far too complacent in the face of what can only be described as borderline domestic abuse.

Jesse and his "control issues" are piled on so thick that I can't concentrate on anything other than them. Controlling issues? Worlds biggest understatement. I don't know why so many books/authors/readers see this type of behaviour as a sexy trait. Protective, a little jealous, bossy? Yes, I'll take all three, but refusing to let someone pee when they want, demanding control of someone's wardrobe, and commencing a countdown to punishment if said someone doesn't do as they are told is not a quality I personally look for in a book boyfriend.

The storyline moves incredibly fast, which ordinarily I like, but when dealing with such difficult personalities I think some length could have added to the believability.

A few tweaks of character traits and it could have been really good and far more deserving of more stars. Less contradiction between thoughts and actions and it could have been amazing.

All that said, I didn't put it down. I want to believe that it's because as an avid book lover I will persevere in the face of fairness, but, in all honesty, I kept reading for the smut. The smut is HOT. It tramples all over other smut. Her feelings and reactions are so well described that I can almost overlook the premature anal session. Seriously? When he's that big?

I'll end on that note.

Absolutely no plot. Over 400 pages, and literally nothing happened.
