Eh. I didn't feel that this book was really worth reading. It didn't present any original ideas. This is possibly due to the fact that the book is a few years old and some of the things mentioned have since become pretty mainstream (i.e. shopping at farmer's markets, yoga). I like the idea of slowing down, but this book didn't provide me with much in the way of ideas or inspiration.
Interesting but I was hoping for more of a how-to, rather than a why. But a good read all the same.
From Octave Mirbeau: "'(Our) thoughts, feelings, and loves are a whirlwind. Everywhere life is rushing insanely like a cavalry charge."
"...people crave slowness. The spirit, by its very nature, is Slow."
"By treating people and the environment as valuable assets, rather than disposable inputs, a Slow alternative could make the economy work for us, rather than vice versa."

Interessant onderwerp!

Was not quite what I was looking for. More of a narrative on personal experiences with the topic than a true explanation of the concept
Every once in a while I’ll read a book that puts to words something I’ve felt but haven’t been able to pinpoint those experiences or feelings into words. This is one of those books. After intentionally slowing down in a recent trip, I was shocked how much it impacted my thoughts, feelings, nervous system and imagination. This book connected that recent experience to the stark difference of the overwhelming need for speed we often find ourselves experiencing in daily life while advocating that we slow down.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars.

I love this book so much I am trying to reread it this summer. It's a book about slowing down--slow food, slow kids, slow everything--and I really want to keep thinking about it in terms of teaching--to think about ways to create space for deeper learning rather than the rush, rush, rush coverage stuff we're use to. I can't ever give away this book b/c I like it so much.
