This was my first book from the series and from this author. I signed up for the ARC based on the tropes. Truth time here: for about 20% of the book, I debated DNF-ing. I am so glad I didn’t. I was not expecting to love this as much as I did. I am not saying the first part of this book isn’t good. It just took ME a minute to get into it.
Deacon is an OTT and obsessive MMC when it comes to Freya. He has blood on his hands and is unapologetic for his actions. His pursuit of Freya is unconventional, but this man worships the ground she walks on. He dotes on her and protects her.
The chemistry between Freya and Deacon is explosive. Deacon teaches Freya a lot about his lifestyle, and she easily adapts.
I highly recommend this book. I will for sure be reading more from this series. I am sold. These are available in audio and on KU. I hope you read it and love it, too! Let me know what you think!
Quotes:
There’s no going back for me. She’s worth everything I’m going to do to make her mine.
“Why put flowers in my hair?” she whispers. “Because I’m about to give you the most disrespectful fucking you’ve ever had, and I want you to feel beautiful for it,” I say. “Remember when you’re gasping for air and begging like a whore that I can be gentle.”
“You call me daddy, sweetheart,” he says. “At least when I’ve got my cock this far up your cunt.”

📖 DEACON by @rayamorrisedwards
**ARC review
Wow. This was incredible. This is a dark cowboy romance but honestly one of the tenderest, sweetest journeys I’ve been on.
Freya is the step daughter of Aiden who wields fear as a weapon and never raises a hand but scars her all the same. Until she gets caught in the rain one night…
Deacon Ryder is all cowboy and the only man Freya’s ever met that leashes aggression until it’s called for. She has to work really hard to trust the authenticity of his gentleness and he won’t stop until she believes it.
I loved this so much. This is one of those reads that you are constantly thinking about when you’re not reading. I was completely consumed. Deacon is god tier book boyfriend for me and there are MULTIPLE scenes and quotes living rent free up in here forever.
Thank you so much to @rayamorrisedwards and @theauthor.agency for the ARC. This was a privilege to read 🫶🏼

Another banger from Raya! She knows how to write a dark cowboy with redeeming qualities. The love he shows to Freya shows that the right person can change you for the better.
