The Grownup is genuinely scary and borrows a bit from Shirley Jackson, even mentioning in passage one of her novels. Its ending is a bit cheap, being both closed and openly asking for interpretation, but I loved the novella anyway.

So happy I picked this short story up! So good and i left me wanting a little bit more.

With an opening like that who can resist?! LOL

I'm a huge Gillian Flynn fan and I was super excited to dive into this book. It's definitely not what I expected. This is a very short novel, a little humor in the beginning which unfolds into the usual psychological thriller that you would expect from Flynn. The story line was good, although I was a tad bit disappointed in the end.

Given that I had been waiting for her to release a new book for what felt like forever, this read was like a tease as opposed to fully satisfying my Flynn addiction lol.
