Une bonne histoire courte !

This started IMMEDIATELY and def had a bunch of twist for a short story that’s 1hr 17 min it did not end as expected but I wanted something more from it.. as for the characters… so many decisions that were ill advised

This was actually a good mix of dark humor and suspense. Being a quick read helped lend enough mystery while also leaving the reader with just enough answers to have it be a satisfying read. I would recommend this one as an introduction to Flynn's works as it wasn't as graphic and twisted as her other novels.

I don’t normally rate this author well, but I enjoyed this quick little “scary” story. It was perfect for an indoors socially distant Halloween

So what really happened?

That's the question here and what makes this short story such a great read. I can't say any more. Read the story and you'll understand why.

This story was included in the Rogues anthology. I was excited for a Gillian Flynn short story. I really enjoy her writing. I was not disappointed as Ms. Flynn always leaves me feeling a bit cold and clammy, like my soul needs cleansing.

Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: N/A
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

With the understanding that this is a short story, I would have loved maybe an extra 10 or so pages just to flush things or a bit more.

That said, really started to have a sense on uneasiness towards the half way point. Maybe some bits are predictable, but still leaves you questioning the character(s) and the ending.

Book of the Month Club sent this little novella (more of a short story) as a bonus book for January '17. It was actually an enjoyable horror/mystery thriller with some twists that I did not see coming and a satisfying ending.
