So. Many. Similes! It felt like the author was trying to write a myth retelling without actually writing it. It got old very quickly. At one point I wanted to like Marist and Royce but they're just ... blah. Macalister once again is the only interesting character in this book.

Is it just me...or does the father seem so much more intriguing and seductive than the son?...why bother with the prince when you can have the king? But Oh my goodness!! What a cliffhanger at the end! But in a good way that will set up the ending of the story and the next book...eek!
I will say though that there is a bit of unrequited love in here from two characters. There is an undertone of longing from them and not for each other - it’s like a love triangle.
Very good...addictive. Is like a clever, steamy, very current throwback to a famous 90’s billionaire family set in Texas. Loved it!

Yeahhhhh I don’t know. I see why people like McAllister but he just seems so sleezy to me and he puts a bad taste in my mouth. I much prefer Royce even though, yes, he sold Marist out. But I believe he truly loves her and McAllister just wants to conquer. I see the allure of how powerful McAllister is but to me he just seems whiny and pathetic whenever Marist doesn’t bend to his will. I’m not even sure how I feel continuing with this series… but I’m hoping for a powerful ending.
