So this is a very personal opinion, but I could not deal with the abuse and highly dubious consent in this book. A warning would have been nice.

This book was significantly better than the 1st. I enjoyed the suspense and wit, it moved at a better pace and wasn’t bogged down by endless descriptions that the first was! I am very intrigued at how the next book plays out, although I feel like I already know how Marist and Royce’s story will end, although I shall forever hold out for that twist and unexpected ending!!
I don’t know why I got cruel intention vibes, but this book definitely will keep you on your toes. Every time you think the main character finally has the upper hand, there’s this unexpected twist. This book definitely got me out of my reading funk!
Y'all just do yourselves a favor and read this series.
I don't know how Nikki Sloane did it, but she just keeps getting better. This twisted love triangle, the secrets, the lies, the steam, the chess games.... I couldn't put it down. I gained so much more respect for Royce in this story and loved seeing his relationship grow with Marist. The continued mythology references added a nice touch, and that ending kept me on my toes. And lets just be honest, Macalister Hale is the ultimate antagonist that you can't get enough of.

This is seriously twisted, if you thought The Initiation is already twisted, then this is even more twisted! Reading will keep you on the edge of your seat, just anticipating what would happen next!
After the crazy cliffhanger the first book ended on, I had mixed feelings with this one. On the other hand, I need to know what happened to Marist after what her "supposedly" fiance did to her. Then on the other I was scared to know what I would be getting myself into.
Marist couldn’t trust anything anyone said when she entered that household. There was always another meaning or a hidden agenda with everyone in that house. She always had her guards up, but sometimes she got swayed a little, and I can only keep on hoping she wouldn't feed on their words while reading. This book really is a page-turner!
You can't trust anyone expecially Royce and McAllister. They are devious. Every word they say can have a hundred different meanings. Seriously, I don't know what their intentions are and the author did a really good job that I can't predict anything what would happen next. I’m so glad that Marist finally gets tough and stands her ground! But if I were her, I would totally drop everything and just ran away from everyone in that house...
