Not as much personal growth as I would have liked to see the characters experience.
It was still a good book and I liked seeing their relationship develop.

I loved getting more of August's story in this book! At times I was a little frustrated by both Sloane and August as they refused to leave the past behind and let themselves be stuck in destructive thought patterns. And while I enjoyed the pacing and the story, there were some editorial missteps that were a bit distracting to me (repetition of words in a sentence, characters' movements that was a bit disjointed, etc.) All told it was a fun story and I'd love to explore more from the Sugar Blitz universe - maybe another story about Nicholas and Jada's BFF Olivia?

This is one of those *very* slow burns sort of romance. We know from the get go that both August and Sloane have the hots for each other. They are lusting after each other in their hearts and minds from the moment they run into each other after having known each other 12 years before.

So there is the history there.

Sloane is trying to get hired as a social media mavin, and takes on her brother's company, a cup cake bakery.

I did like the slow burn, though at times it seemed a little too slow. Also, the conflict that might tear them apart wasn't that big a conflict. It is more fun to have a major this-will-never-work-out sort of thing.

Other than that, I did like reading about the football players turned bakers again, as this was the second book in the series.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review. This book is coming out the 19th of November 2024.

DID NOT FINISH: 30%

I would like to revisit this one day on a physical or ebook. Unfortunately the audiobook really did not work for me. When the male narrator deepens his voice it has a lot of vocal fry which grates my nerves.
