Zabawna i poważna jednocześnie, historia opowiedziana z perspektywy 7, noooo....prawie 8- letniej dziewczynki.

(…) «Queremos ser amados» – recita Britt-Marie. – «Se não for possível, admirados; se não for possível, temidos; se não for possível, odiados e desprezados. Queremos, a qualquer preço, despertar algum sentimento nos outros. A alma abomina o vácuo. Anseia por contacto, a qualquer preço.» (…)”
Only reason why it isn’t up in rating is because it didn’t make me cry. I think there could have been at least 20 chapters deleted. The audio was alright, no different voices for the characters. Britt -Marie was mentioned a lot and so maybe that’s my next book to read by this author. Hoping my library has it.
3.5 stars...maybe 4....OK, 3.75 :) I struggled with rating this book. I loved Elsa, and her granny. I loved reading the experiences that they shared. Even though I'm not huge on book that feature a lot of 'family dynamics', I did enjoy this one. I also appreciated that the numerous 'stories' came together at the end. Why the lower rating? There was an abundance of story telling, not just by Elsa, the almost-eight-year old narrator, tells about her and her granny's shenanigans, but also the tales that Granny told Elsa. There is symbolism in the stories about the other characters in the book. As I mentioned, it does come together in the end, but getting through the tales and symbolism became quite tedious for me. (Hence the lower rating). Still, the innocence and tender moments that Elsa (an outsider) shared in this story about life, love, friendship, and family was worth the read.
I struggled a bit at the beginning because it was sad, but it is a beautiful book. All my tears at the end were happy ones.
