Wow! This was a peculiar one! I nearly gave up at one point with all the fairy tale stuff that I was skimming over mostly. But because I loved A Man Called Ove so much I stuck it out. I thought the girl was more likely to be 10-11 rather than 7. I can't imagine any 7 year old like her. I have many grandchildren and one who joined MENSA at 9yrs old and even she couldn't have been like Elsa. The story hidden away in among the fairy tales was very good and I enjoyed that part of it.

I would have never guessed that the author of a Man called Ove would write a book about a fairy-tale loving almost eight year-old. Backman uses his wit and observance of human nature to create another lovely read about appreciating the gifts in life in the people around us.

A precocious 7 y/o narrator forged on an adventure to uncover the complexity of human relationships from the simplicity of a 7 y/o. Heartwarming at times.
Reminiscent of Stephen King’s Fairytale with the creation of fantasy worlds. At times challenging to follow.
A few surprises much like Backman’s Anxious People.
Not my favorite Backman book, and glad to have read it once.

So clever! I like the idea that everyone, not just 7 year olds, need superheroes. And I'm always a fan of things about the stories we tell ourselves.
