By far my least favorite of his books. Way too much emphasis on the fairy tale metaphor… it was too involved and not interesting at all. I would’ve liked it if it was the real story without all the nonsense. Enjoyed seeing Britt-Marie in another book.
it was a good book and i can see why people like it, but me personally it was meh. i couldn't really get attached to the characters and there never really was a moment where i was completely immersed in the book yk

This book is strange but endearing. The stories within stories can get frustrating with all the similar names to keep track of. It all ties together beautifully in the end.

This was a really beautiful story of love and acceptance.
The fairy tales became tiresome. So did the rhythm and the unlikely cleverness of the 8-year-old protagonist. I suppose I expected this adventure to last for years, with the protagonist hunting down people on other continents to deliver apologies to... I was expecting an adult for a good chunk of the book. Nope. I don't much care for adult novels told from the POV of a child, even a precocious one.
The story itself was put together very well, suspense-wise. It was a nice bit of light reading.

I loved this book. It made me laugh and almost cry (and those who know me know that I do not cry much). The antics of the grandmother were hysterical- my personal favorite being when she shoots paintballs at neighbors from her balcony, and when she dies, the tasks she sends her granddaughter on are both insane and heartwarming.
