The counter perspective to the first book. It's nice to get things from Hades perspective. While I wasn't expecting extremely compelling prose, his character is very primal and black and white for the majority of the book - annoyingly predictably so. It is, however, a fun silly read. Clips by fast and offers new background to information you already have from the first one.
If you loved A Touch of Darkness, A Game of Fate makes the entire story even better. This book tells the same events, but from Hades’ perspective, and it completely changes the way you see everything. His voice is darker, sharper, and full of power, yet you also get to see his vulnerability and the way his feelings for Persephone grow.
I loved how this book added so much more depth to Hades as a character. You get to see his world, his responsibilities as the God of the Dead, and his struggle between power and love. It makes the romance even more intense because you finally see just how much he wants Persephone and how far he is willing to go for her.
What I enjoyed most was how fresh the story felt even though I already knew the outline. The new perspective made the romance feel even more addictive and gave me a stronger connection to both characters.
This was a passionate, compelling, and addictive retelling that gave me everything I wanted from Hades’ side of the story. I cannot wait to keep reading more from this world.
