The story was sweet, many details probably resonate more with theatre kids than general audience but the diversity of cast is a welcome change to otherwise unmelinate similar storirs. The fact that the narrator can't always catch the mumbled or indirect words of the other characters is one of the strongest teaching moments in the story. Not because it happens but because we too, as readers -scratch that- listeners, have to make the same assumptions or dismissals that Jackson has to make when hearing is an issue to keep moving along the conversation or plot.
