This was such a sweet book to read about second chance romance . I knew I needed to read this book when I saw the tropes , ex married now divorced couple, in their 40s and accidental pregnancy.
I enjoyed reading Gus & Chloe’s story as I didn’t know how this will pan out there were loads of surprises in their story, after 20 years of not seeing each other and Chloe going back to her home town to finally get her revenge on Gus for breaking her heart.
Gus was still so smitten by Chloe and I liked that he didn’t push her buttons too much he almost allowed her to just be herself until she was ready to open up to him , while he fought to have her back in his own way and the changes he made to show her he would fight for her again

I really liked this one!
Not usually a fan of accidental pregnancy but after Wood Riddance I trust Elliot with this trope. Elliot added a unique twist to it too, accidentally pregnant by her ex-husband?! Drama!! I was seated for this one.
The romance here is romantic & sexy. Gus is a dreamboat when it comes to Chloe. He’s so gone for her and is willing to fight to win her back. Chloe starts the book set on revenge against Gus for the past but once she’s around him again the ice around her heart starts to melt. Their reconciliation felt believable. Their second chance at love was hard won and I loved all the angst and sexy moments in between.
This book didn’t have as much smut as the other books, but what we got was so good! The f**k it moment?! So dang good!!! This was steamy

Pain In The Axe is the second installment of the Main Lumberjacks Series. This is a Second Chance, Small Town, Grumpy/Grumpier, Accidental Pregnancy, Lumberjack Romance. Although it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the series in order, there is a side story that spams the length of the series and will make better sense read in order.
If you read the first book in this series before reading Pain In The Axe, as I highly recommend that you do, you also already have met Gus, the eldest Hebert brother who is all work, no play, and Chloe the small, feisty and kinda mean entrepreneur who has a past with Gus. Slowly, almost painfully at some points, Gus and Chloe's backstory unravels, and we get a heart warming and heated power struggle between two fabulous characters. I loved the self awareness of unexpected characters, and the slow realization of others. This is definitely a High Heat Slow Burn story, but the author does an amazing job of bringing everything to a sweet and happy ending. I was also pleased that we got a few more bits to the ongoing suspenseful happenings at the family business.
Overall I found this to be an amazing, yet slow burn read. I am fully invested in seeing what happens to all the lovely folks of this small town, and falling in love with an entire family of Huge Hot Heberts. Every romance reader should check out this book/series.
