I loved being back in Lovewell! We really need more lumberjack romances like this, and until then--Daphne Elliot is my go-to!

First off, Chloe is such a likable fmc! She is a badass CEO who doesn't need no man because she can do it all for herself! That is until she comes back to Lovewell, where she bought out a failing lumber company previously owned by her ex-husband's family. And now she is his boss! But her plan of swooping in to put him in his place and be the boss from hell, completely blows up when a work-related meeting turns into a reunion between lovers, and several weeks later she's suddenly nauseous and barfing lol

And Gus, *sigh* where do I even begin? Gus is such a cinnamon roll and completely in love with Chloe, and always has been. He would do anything she could possibly ask of him and is determined to win her back. Once he learns he's going to be a dad, his determination is sky high. Chloe is stubborn and insists she will not cave but is set on maintaining a solid co-parenting relationship with him.

Because of the way things ended between them 20 years ago, she doesn't trust him, and we don't learn the intricacies of the conflict until the second half of the book. Once it comes to the surface, it changes everything!! Proving once again, that they were meant to be.

I can't stress enough how happy it makes me to see older characters in a swoony romance!! These two were married when they were 19, and spent 20 years thinking the other never truly loved them, only to find each other after going through the trials and tribulations of their 20's and 30's, never having found a love like the one they once shared; and despite everything they went through, they still got their happily ever after! As someone who is getting closer to 40 every day, it makes my heart so full to see this type of representation in romance. Later in life romance stories don't have to be dull and boring just because the characters aren't college-aged hockey players or whatever the latest craze if. They can be just as steamy and angsty, and this particular book is perfect if that is what you're looking for!

I highly recommend checking out book 1 for more context, since there is a backstory that provides more context, but if you're the type of reader that doesn't mind jumping around a series, you could potentially read this as a standalone and still enjoy it. I can't wait to read more from this series!

Chloe is determined to get back at her ex-husband Gus after 20 years. She buys his family lumber company and forces him to work under her as part of the contract. Maybe she didn’t think this plan through because now they are forced together. After growing tension they spend a night together and end up with more than the bargained for, a baby.
