This took me a while to get through. Thanks ADHD! It started off really slow…really really slow but I know Daphne always turns is around and boom I ended up loving this book and Gus and Chloe.. but especially Bus should be protected at all costs. How many times I wanted to wallop Chloe upside her head was insane. Like seriously you have this brooding lumberjack who is willing to be at your beck and call for anything and I mean anything!! This book was so angsty, revenge filled but those two could not get enough of each other. You felt the enemies to lovers. Daphne is so good at getting these characters into your head where you feel like you are there. Do I wish there was more spice? Yes because Gus has a dirty mouth. Clive of course is up to his typical shenanigans with a surprise up his belt.

Oh my gosh, I loved this so much. So much angst and tension between Gus and Chloe and I ate it up. I was predicting early on what caused their breakup and knowing what I know from previous books I should have seen it coming but I was still surprised. I also really love the mystery/thriller story going on in the background of the love story with the ongoing criminal affair that has been plaguing the timber company Gus’s family sold to Chloe. There are some loose ends at the end of this book on that, and I suspect we’ll pick up with those in Cole’s book next.
