While I'm not the biggest fan of second chances, especially when they involve ex-spouses, this book was a good one. There wasn't much drama between them when they found out they were going to be parents together, and I appreciated that. I can't complain, although there were a few things that didn't quite add up for me (mostly related to why they separated). The whole storyline around the wood company left me with more questions. As I said, it was fine for passing the time, the kind of light romance Daphne writes is something I enjoy. And yes, even though it's a second chance, I liked it.

📌 I received an e-arc, and this is my honest opinion/review of it.

I am one of those people who absolutely love the surprise pregnancy trope and well when she made it surprise pregnancy but **plot twist** it’s with her ex-husband…SIGN ME UP! If you love revenge with some hate sex added into the mix with tons of banter but a swoon worthy golden retriever man this book is for you!

I absolutely loved being back in this small town and getting to pick up where we left off in the other book with Gus and his ex-wife Chloe. Chloe (the absolute girlboss that she is) buys her ex-husband's family’s lumber business but the stipulation was that Gus had to stay and work for her for a year but what Chloe didn’t factor in was how much seeing Gus and being around each other would cause feelings to arise that never went away.

This is the definition of a “It’s always been you” book. Chloe and Gus had a lot of unresolved feelings, anger and guilt. These two had tons of banter but they also had a great friendship that we love to see. I honestly loved how Gus reacted to the pregnancy news and how he was determined to show Chloe that they were meant to be together and stay together as a family. I also really loved to see Chloe’s personal growth in this book. A lot of information came out and Chloe…this woman really owned up to her mistakes and apologized for them and I loved to see it. So many times we see where an MMC is made to grovel/apologize and I find it so refreshing to see when it is the FMC. These characters are also older and more mature and you can see that in this book with their communication. These two were so meant to be together and I really loved watching them communicate and have the discussions they needed to to heal from the past and move forward.

Thank you to the Author Agency for the arc of this book.

It was good, I really enjoyed how invested Gus was in his relationship with Chloe and how he went about bettering himself for her. I liked seeing the brothers again.
