This series gives me so much joy! Each one gives me a trope that I am obsessed with, and Pain in the Axe would be a second chance, divorced couple… with an accidental pregnancy! Daphne did such a great job telling this story. I loved that we had a reason for them to split that they worked through and realized things weren’t quite as they seemed. I really believed in the characters' story and was cheering for them to find their way back to each other. You could tell they both had regrets but they were young, now they are older and more mature and ready to start a family. Gus was all in when he found out Chloe was pregnant and I liked that he was ready to figure this out.

This audio was a duet narration with Aaron Sheldlock and CJ Bloom. From the moment I hit play, I was hooked. Not just by the story, but by the way the narrators brought these characters to life. Every conversation felt real, every emotion just hit, and the chemistry was off the charts.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved how fiercely independent Chloe was, but also her journey of learning to ask and accepting help. She was such a wonderful character to read! And Gus's dedication to those heloves most was so beautiful to watch! I really loved how he was so open and willing to accept what Chloe needed at every turn! And, once again, these side characters were so much fun! His family and her friends were all just so much fun together!! I can't wait for more from Lovewell!!

Fun contemporary. Enjoyed a 40 year old FMC, also enjoyed that SHE was the one with the money.

Wonderful audiobook story about second Chances that’s incredibly sweet and funny, riddled with insane banter between characters that will have you rolling with laughter, especially when you have narrators who totally deliver each and every single word with excitement and delight!
It was Perfection.
The story features strong, loving characters, Chloe and Gus. Ones I absolutely fell in love with!

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
Pain in the Axe by: Daphne Elliot
(Maine Lumberjacks Book 2)

NARRATED by: Aaron Shedlock & CJ Bloom
Overall Story: 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ excellent story!
Spice level: 3.5🌶️🌶️🌶️ right amount of steam.
Performance: 10/10 ✨🎧🎙️Amazing Talented narrators who brought this to life.. two of my favorites!

GUS HIBERT AND CHLOE

Chloe
The fiery red head who thought she was serving her ex husband centuries of what was due to him.
How to get revenge on your ex-husband:
Step one: buy his family’s lumber company.
Step two: demote him and force him to work for you.
Step three: sit back and enjoy the sweet victory.
But what wasn’t part of Chloe’s plan… Sleeping with the Ex who constantly flirts and conjures up all sorts of emotions she really shouldn’t be having.

“You think I’ve been striving over here?”I growled.
“Take a look around, Dragonfly. I never recovered from losing you.”

Gus
Is the silent strong type but underneath his grumpy exterior is a heart of gold, and one whose heart forever belongs to his ex wife despite her fire and unprovoked ire.
Gus is definitely determined to not what he sees as his second chance slip away, so her making him stay after acquiring his company was a sign that he would do everything possible for her to be his wife once again.

My first audiobook written by Daphne Elliot was everything!
Especially when narrated by two of my favorites performers who brought forth these characters with their unique style of
storytelling.. they were Perfectly paired for this role and I loved it!

The story features strong, lovable characters, Chloe and Gus. Ones I absolutely fell in love with, along with Clive the buck, who seems to rival the main characters, and an ending that was so good!

Be sure to add to your TBL/TBR collection, see if you will enjoy it as much as I did.. remember it’s fictional with all the fun!

Author’s Note: Pain in the Axe is a standalone small-town romance featuring a grumpy boss heroine and a grumpy lumberjack hero who just happen to be divorced exes. If you enjoy enemies-to-lovers banter, nicknames, wood-chopping competitions, and growly, possessive heroes, you will not be disappointed. Don’t worry, Clive will appear as well—his main character-energy cannot be suppressed.

Thanks to HCB for this opportunity and thank you all for reading my review and recommendation. Until next time book besties 💋

🎧Audio/📖Ebook Review
Narrated in duet style by CJ Bloom & Aaron Shedlock

Oh Gus. You melted my heart. This second chance small town romance will have you swooning! Gus and Chloe married young but lies and betrayal tore them apart. Almost 20 years later Chloe returns to make Gus pay. What she didn’t expect was to still have feelings for him. As they both get closer, they realize that there were more secrets hidden that caused their break up and the truth must come out.

I absolutely love a man who digs in and doesn’t give up. Chloe is back in Gus’s life and he will do whatever it takes to get her back. His pursuit of her is beautiful despite all of her protestations. Yet Chloe has major trust issues that she’s struggling to get over. She’s always gone it alone and Gus’ betrayal when they were young messed with her for many years.

This narration is in duet style with CJ Bloom as Chloe and Aaron Shedlock as Gus. What a wonderful pairing. CJ Bloom so good as the tough business woman and yet she slayed the deeper emotional parts also.  On a side note, I find something very calming about her voice. And Aaron?... well, he makes the perfect lumberjack. His performance showed his range of cinnamon-role alpha with some determination thrown in as Gus makes sure he’s never letting Chloe go again. Although we only got a brief glimpse, I loved Aaron’s kid voice, it is so enjoyable.

Another win for Daphne Elliot! Chloe and Gus are getting their second chance at love. Chloe is a total boss, thriving in the male dominated field of lumber. Gus is the grumpy Hebert brother that couldn't save his family's company. Throw in a surprise baby, and you've got quite the romance story!

I really loved Gus's growth in this story. From heartbroken grump to doting dad-to-be. I also really liked how Chloe wasn't afraid to be herself. Aaron Shedlock and CJ Bloom masterfully brought these 2 to life. The audio is simply perfect. Thank you to Home Cooked Books for allowing me to listen and review!

🌶️🌶️🌶️

Pain in the Axe was my first Daphne Elliot book, and it was such a sweet small town, lumberjack, second chance romance. I couldn’t put it down and read it in a day. Loved the lumberjack vibes!

Chloe has returned to town after buying her ex-husband’s family lumber business. She was planning on a little revenge against him since he ended things with her over the business. However, she does not get the reaction she expected from her ex, Gus. He welcomes her and everything her team is doing. They are both still attracted to each other, and they have so much history to resolve. They connect and have an amazing night together, which leads to an accidental pregnancy.

Gus was such a cinnamon roll hero, and he was so gone for Chloe. I loved how he reacted to the pregnancy, and he w heras all in from the start. He was so swoony! Chloe was such a strong and independent working woman, but she had issues trusting again.

Side note: I loved the moose Clive and Gus’ dog Clementine.
