The only thing I know for sure is that I only understood, if I am being generous, about 60% of this book. It will definitely require a couple/few re-reads to grasp it in its entirety. I'm glad I read other peoples' reviews of Neuromancer because otherwise I probably would have given up part-way through. I enjoyed the author's frenetic style of writing, and he uses great imagery throughout. Hopefully next year I will read Neuromancer again and come away with a better understanding of.. everything.

The overall plot was enjoyable though the prose was difficult to follow at times. I understand the language was chosen to evoke a particular aesthetic, and to a certain extent it succeeded. However, it also acted as a barrier to understanding which at times lead me to skim over descriptions and make up my own that agreed with my understanding of the setting.

I was pretty disappointed. Way over-hyped. This is not the end-all and be-all of Sci-Fi that I had heard it was. Kudos for using the terms "cyberspace" and the "matrix" pretty much before anyone else though. Overall, it was OK.

Wow. I listened to the audiobook first but I felt like I missed a lot so I read the paperback. I still feel like I could read it again and enjoy it just as much.

I read Neuromancer years ago and picked it up again recently. It's still a good read.

If it wasn’t for needing to read this book for a class, I would have quit after the first chapter. I could not get into this book. It was difficult to stay focused on and I didn’t connect to any of the characters. The vernacular of this world was confusing and unfamiliar so I was often confused about what was going on. I ended up listening to the audio book as I read the physical copy which helped but only on a surface level. There was no emotional connection to any of the characters or events for me so when it came to the big reveal where you except to get the ‘aha’ moment, I didn’t know what to be ‘aha-ed’ about.
