If you're looking for a summer read that portrays an intimate connection of a woman experiencing depression and her journey of moving forward with her life as a unexpected guest for an upscale wedding at a fancy Rhode Island hotel, The Wedding People provides that and more. While the ending felt a bit lackluster at some parts, Espach's introspective writing and Phoebe's narrative of the events that take place over the wedding week gives reader an in-depth, emotional read that ultimately leaves readers inspired to make the most out of life.

This book was described as a laugh out loud, romance…

It wasn’t funny, just odd. There wasn’t a hint of romance, it was just written that characters decided they liked eachother.

The ending was rushed and honestly ruined the book for me, I feel like with the right ending this could’ve been a solid 4 stars.

I enjoyed the chaos of it all, and wished I got to see more development of the characters or themes. There were many challenging themes but they were talked about very lightly, I didn’t really get any emotion from them.

The ex husband coming to visit 2 years later was unnecessary and was honestly a waste of time.

There were no clear chapters?

I honestly think this could’ve been a great book, but it was just very under developed.

I went into the book not knowing much and was expecting a rom-com. Turned out to be a lot heavier than I thought it would be! However, a beautiful story that was equally funny and sad.
I enjoyed it, but think it would’ve hit harder if I could relate to some of the storylines a bit more (ie I’m single as a pringle over here)

I could not put this book down. I devoured it in one sitting. it’s sharp, witty, and, at times, sad. it is alive. I was particularly impressed by character dialogue, including Phoebe’s inner dialogue, how natural it flowed and real it felt. every single character felt real and three dimensional.

as an added bonus, I feel a camaraderie with the author, like we both read another book, not naming names (but it may rhyme with shmidnight shlibrary), and had the same empty, unimpressed reaction… but then she turned around and wrote this masterpiece. mad respect from me.

This book had so much emotional depth. While suicide is a main theme initially, the story transforms into an experience of radical self-acceptance and redemption as the characters learn how to navigate living authentically, even if it costs them everything they thought they ever wanted.
