So cute and fluffy! I cant wait to continue the next one and know more about the characters and all this vampire stuff.
Book 1 was good, tbh I have seen the synopsis of the other volumes and I don't know if I'm going to continue just because I think the plotlines get a bit ridiculous.
I'm looking at you, 'permanently turned into a boy' plot
Book #240 of 2022
Book #240 of 2022
This was a quick, fluffy read about about Ruka, a vampire who refuses to drink the blood from women, and his new thrall Mito (who is secretly a woman), but has blood which tastes incredibly foul due to being so unloved her whole life. The artwork is very pretty.
I wish my library had the rest of the series, but I only have access to this first one at this time. I would definitely continue on with the series, though. I would hope that Ema Toyama builds more on the backstory of why Mito was so unloved growing up, and Ruka's history of how he became a vampire.

Mito is a teenaged girl, dressed as a boy, living on the streets when she runs across Ruka, a vampire otaku who only likes 2D girls. He asks for her to be his thrall in exchange for a place to live and lots of love. And so starts another shoujo manga series. It's got the cross-dressing trope and the abandoned trope. Not to mention the romance and vampire romance tropes. It's pretty standard fare although the idea that the blood tastes better from a well-loved person is an interesting twist from what I've seen before. Also, there seem to be other potential love interests based on what's been offered so far. So I guess there's the love triangle trope too.
So far there's not a lot of depth to the characters but it is early days and I imagine it will delve a bit deeper with time. Overall, a cute little series for those who like their trope-y manga series in shoujo.
Overall, I give this 3 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha for giving me an advanced reader copy. I have provided this review voluntarily.

This was such an enjoyable read to kick off 2022. I found this take on vampires so intriguing and something I haven’t come across to often. I love the the secret identity aspect of this book. The only downside I really had is I felt like there was something missing in fleshing out of this idea of vampires and a thrall and how Ruka could only feed from a fated women. Maybe that picks up in the next book and I’ll definitely be reading it, Im just in no rush.

When I first saw the cover of this manga, I never would have thought this vampire story would look like in this way. It was unique and unexpected. The art work of this manga was really pretty, but the plot and storyline itself felt a bit rushed. Well I know that in first volume you have to make reader intrigued to read others volumes as well. No matter this fat it still was too fast for me.
When I just started it, from first pages you could tell that something is wrong and character has a lot of women features. Later through the story my first thought was confirmed. This shoujo romance part felt a bit weird, you couldn't really name what kind of relationship was that. It wasn't really for me, but if you're a fan of vampires you should enjoy it.
I don't have anything against vampires and surely lot of time went past since I read any book or manga with these creatures. This theme was more last decade, but I still were really happy to see a new vampire story, especially romance.
Thanks to Kodansha and Net Galley as always for providing us an online copy of this manga in exchange for an honest review.
