The second book was so much better than the first book. I loved how the author shows different points of view between Cole and Mara each chapter. The character development was deep, personal, and very vulnerable. Cole wanted to give everything that Mara deserved. It got deeper into their personal childhood traumas and how their parents affected them. It was way better than those (weird) sex scenes to overcome trauma. However, it was replaced with vulnerable discussions and murder - valid. They clearly needed the ultimate revenge. I am happy that I continued to read the second book.
They also had a really good playlist to go with the novel as well. I love this since music is such a big part of my life! I got to listen to new artists and songs that I have never heard of.
Thanks, Amber! :-)

3.5 sadly i cant give it a 4. As much as i loved book 1 this one kinda dissapointed me. Although i loved how actually dark this book was. I felt that it was a bit dragged out. Other then that i still liked finishing it.
dark emotional tense fast-paced

- Mara: protagonista femenina
- Cole: protagonista masculino

Lost interest, maybe picking it up at some point

This duet was not at all what I was expecting - it’s hard to explain: this book was slow to me. But at the same time, interesting. I wasn’t bored & I enjoyed watching Mara & Coles love grow & watching them learn more about each other.

While this is a “serial killer romance”, I wouldn’t say it is overly action packed or suspenseful. What you’re waiting on to happen from book 1, doesn’t happen until one of the very last chapters of the book - but it was worth the wait.

I enjoyed a different perspective of her “learning” the trade. It wasn’t her learning how to fight & defend herself - it was all about her mind. I LOVED seeing her grow into the badass woman she was at the end of book 2. The comparison from the Mara we meet at the beginning of #1 is a HUGE transformation.

& this is another example of a book where even tho they kill, you find yourself rooting for them. I was worried we wouldn’t see anything from the storyline with her mom. But once again, Sophie delivered!

I’m excited to read more by this author

Thought this book was alright. It dragged out at points. I thought it was quite a jump to kill Shaw. I knew it had to happen but it didn’t seem like the other characters could come up with it that fast. I did like the way that they killed Shaw in the park sculpture. I didn’t care too much for the ending too on how submissive Cole got to be. I get it that people/characters change, but that was huge change in him. People don’t change that much.

never read anything like this it was creepy AND romantic? the playlist was also 10/10 and integrated into the book??? i was SAT

so disappointing cause the first book was so amazing, went through it in a day but THIS? mrs. lark was not stressed about her rent

4.5/5 i LOVED it, the playlists were amazing too, the right songs at the right moments, i felt like i was watching a movie but better.
