i’m not gonna lie, it took me a minute to remember what happened in the first book. after reading what cole & mara were going through, it came back in pieces. i absolutely loved the first one better hands down. how they acted to each other & the curiosity was amazing. the second one we dove more into mara’s past which is cool. the ending was happy & totally cole & mara fashion. i loved reading the dual pov through it all. that’s what really made the book duo for me. cole’s possessiveness & protectiveness towards mara is so freaking hot & attractive like cmon

Great googah moogah! You know, I really did enjoy this Duet. The first book was part of a BOTM read, and when it ended on a cliffhanger I ran to start the second book. Luckily we get right into it. This one picks up exactly where the First one left off and I loved how neatly the author tied up everything in a neat little package :)
Cole is honestly everything - How... HOW the fuck does an OTT possessive, obsessive, stalker, controlling man end up THEEEE most perfect MMC character.... Oh cause of shit like this:
and this
I mean COME THE FUCK ON!!!! I know he's obsessed. I know he's stalker, and he fell first.. but when not only is that the sexiest fucking thing ever - he just keeps building this chick up... and cause of her bitch ass mom - she sooo deserves it.
Ugh!! I digress... All I can say is fuck.. if you like unhinged, wildly obsessive, OTT, controlling and possive men - you'll want to read this book. If you like crime and suspense, you'll want to read this book. And if you want to feeeeeel and I mean feeeellll the fucking scenes and emotions and atmosphere of a book - please PLEASE listen to the playlist with it. Cause *chefs kiss* that's what...
Happy Reading!

I have to be around you. I’m addicted to you. You fuel me, you light me up inside. Just knowing you’re in the house enlivens me. I can’t go back to the way I was before. I’m afraid of it.
and this
“Whatever else I may be, I was never a man who had to tear a woman down to shine bright beside her. If you’re not as good as me, then you’re no good at all. And when I saw you, Mara … I thought, this girl is really fucking good. I don’t want to hold you down, chop you down, diminish you in any way. I already know I found something special. Now it’s time for everyone else to see it.”

You ever go into the conclusion of a duet that you’ve hyped up because of how much you liked the first one and you’re terrified it’s going to let you down? Not with Sophie Lark you don’t. I knew she was going to give us the perfect conclusion and she came through big time.
If you haven’t read There Are No Saints please turn back now. Go read that and come back here after. Last warning, okay?
TIND picks up right where TANS left off. Cole and Mara are together at his place trying to figure out the next steps in their standoff with Shaw. Cole is convinced they need to kill him while Mara is still grappling with her morals. Is it morally wrong to kill someone or is it morally wrong to sit back and let him continue to murder young woman while the justice system fails us once again?
As Mara and Cole’s relationship progresses they open up about their pasts. Mara tells him more about her childhood home life and Cole tells her about his first kills as well as the start of his complicated past with Shaw. I devoured these glimpses into our MCs pasts and how these events shaped them so differently yet so complimentary. I’m high key obsessed with their relationship. Cole is Mara’s number one supporter and fan in this book. I got goosebumps multiple times just from the sheer level of dedication and love he doled out without hesitation.
Who would have thought a story about an escaped serial killer victim would end up telling a story of female empowerment. Mara’s journey is that of an abused girl coming into her own as a bad*ss woman. Of finding her own power and self worth despite existing in a world that always told her she had none. It’s the story of how love can change your whole trajectory for the better even when an insane serial killer is after you. I loved her final evolution. The way that the conflict was resolved with Shaw was perfect. I had so much anxiety going into that scene but all the set up paid off in a big way.
This is Sophie’s best work. From the intense steam, the believable character development, the gripping original plot, the tragic back stories and the fated love was all simply flawless. If you haven’t read any of her books yet, don’t fret, you can read this duet without doing so (but you need to go back and read those too). I cannot recommend this duet strongly enough. Even if a serial killer romance isn’t your typical vibe these books are worth the leap of faith.
Thank you so much to Sophie and Social Butterfly PR for letting me read this early for review! You’ve given me something to be incredibly grateful for.

I got what I asked for with more spice than book one. There is No Devil is fast paced and entertaining. I enjoyed the suspense in this conclusion to the duet. Both are great palette cleansers.
This book was triggering for me. I was encouraged by a friend to keep reading. I am so glad I did. I will definitely reread this series. There is just a bit too much spice for me, but the story itself was amazing!
