Plot: 3/5
Chemistry: 3/5
Spice: 4.5/5
Pacing: 4/5
World/Setting: 2.5/5
MAIN CHARACTERS - Ember/Queen, Diamond, Spade, Club, & Heart
SYNOPSIS - Having always felt a draw to Cirque Obscurum, a young woman on death's door seeks their help to escape her abusive husband. The 4 suits of the circus allow her to finally embrace her darkness and find her freedom.
REVIEW - I always struggle rating books like this because I know not to set the bar high for depth because that's not what they are intended for. That being said, I just have to be honest and say this one was ok and I liked it but it didn't really stand out for me among others in the same type of setting and darkness. Each MMC got some love and minor backstory but their relationship with Ember was mostly carnal or just bloodlust/insanity. Sometimes that works and sometimes it leaves something to be desired. I think Heart was the most interesting character and yet we never got to delve into that madhouse. I would've loved to see more involved with the dark circus as well as maybe a stronger plotline. Last, I was really confused as to where/when this takes place. The language used was modern but a lot of the ideas the FMC mentions seem dated. They keep referencing a war and how women weren't expected to go to college and instead be housewives but the vehicles and settings seemed current. Maybe an alt verse? Does it matter in the grand scheme of things? Probably not. But it kind of annoyed me not being able to figure it out. Maybe I'm just weird.
WOULD I RECOMMEND - Eh.. It's dark and dirty and reads pretty quick. Just go in knowing to expect a fun but surface level "romance".

Spoiler
Her abusive husband coming back after she spared him was obvious but he just has all this power from his wealth and notoriety as a doctor? Please, dude.WOULD I RECOMMEND - Eh.. It's dark and dirty and reads pretty quick. Just go in knowing to expect a fun but surface level "romance".
I go into books blind, and sometimes it bites me in the butt. I don't like reverse harem or why choose. This book had that. I enjoyed the story and magic card

Here's K.A. Knight back with another masterpiece! This book was deliciously dark and magical. Within the first 20 pages I was hook, line and sinker and then spent the day devouring the book in one sitting needing to know what was going to happen next! Absolutely loved every single character in this book, I love you get a backstory on them and how they became who they are. I loved the magic aspect of it and the power of Cirque.

When you call for the nightmares, are you willing to choose how the revenge shall be administered to the monsters in your life? Are you prepared if you make the wrong choice? The Queen and her court will always answer the call and have a whole lot of fun along the way.
All the fun of a circus with a little spicy and walking the line of morally gray. Loved the characters and the storyline. I wish there was more character development along with the plot it felt a a little rushed and I wanted to know so much more about the characters in the best way possible. This RH Dark Spicy Story was absolutely worth the read!

When these two authors get together they make magic. I couldn't put it down. I love this story, it something that I haven't read before. Totally unique with the cards. The circus element just makes it better. Loved it.
