Solid pwp. Not great writing, but I was entertained and I read the whole thing in a day. Good diversion.

Biggest complaints:
1. Why did the doctor’s name change from Dr. Louis to Dr. Louie at some point? In general, there were a lot of inconsistencies, but this was the most egregious.
2. Heart’s POV did not fit his character at all. The writing didn’t change with the perspective.
3. I couldn’t tell the difference between Club, Spade, and Diamond until the last third of the book. Even after reading chapters from their perspective.
4. The mystery was immediately obvious. Obnoxiously obvious.

At the end of the day I love a haunted circus. Would recommend the Harrow Faire series for anybody who wants more of that but a little better done. I liked when Ember/Queen fully stepped into her role as a hunter. The gore was top notch. The spice was pretty great too. It just wasn’t that deep and it nodded in some ways that it wanted to be. I honestly feel silly writing such a long review. It was just a fun romp.

Wow! Wow, wow, wow!!

I have to admit, I was incredibly nervous to read this book, but it didn't take long for that to change. I was sucked into the World of the Cirque by the second chapter and there was no way I was stopping.

Ember is a f*&king QUEEN!! She is the strongest heroin I've ever met in a book. Her story was incredible, and her character development was ridiculous. She is probably one of my favorite characters I've read about in a long time. One of my absolute favorite characters in this book was Freedom. So badass! Spade had my heart and made me feel things...well, they all made me feel things, LOL! Club was also very special in his own way. Then there's Heart and Diamond. These two terrified me in such a beautiful, and delicious way. As a whole, the five of them (six if you include Freedom, the tiger) made the perfect team. They were the heart of Cirque Obscurum.

While there were some very questionable things that took place in this book, they did it for good. Goodness, maybe I belong to the Cirque, haha!

I loved every moment of this book, and I wish I could thank the authors personally for creating such a fabulous, and entertaining book. It's probably one of my top five of the year.

I would definitely recommend. Make sure to check your trigger warnings, and if this kind of thing is up your alley, then I suggest you jump in headfirst. You can thank me later!

Where do I start…. Okay first of all I saw this book advertised on my Facebook feed and I loved the cover.. I have read stuff by Knight before so I bought the book and gave it a try… Let me tell you I could not put it down!! Every spare second i had this book was in my hand!!! It has easily become my favorite read for 2024 and it’s honestly going to take a lot to surpass it! There is so much detail and depth to the Characters and just the background for the story. It’s not really fast paced but it’s not slow either. I love the way they incorporated a deck of cards to be the base of the book and the characters! If I could give this book more the a 5 star I would but since I can’t gets a full 5 and I will be recommending it to my friends and book groups!!!
