Wow. Just wow. Blown away. Ate up every word of it. Ignored all responsibilities. Dark, depraved, dirty, and found family.
Ember truly grew into her own from the broken down meek battered housewife to the true Queen she is. Heart, Diamond, Club, + Spade were all exactly what she needed to survive, they didn’t baby her, they pushed her and made her want to live and become who she was supposed to be.

Cirque Obscurum is a dark, why choose, paranormal romance that I couldn't put down. This story was raw, gritty, and emotional and differentfrom any other book Ive read..
Honestly I didn't know what to expect from this story but it took me on quite a wild ride.
The four main men of the Cirque Obscurum, Diamond, Spade, Club, and Heart travel all over the country to help those that call on the Cirque for help, which is how they met Ember.
They were all fascinating, slightly unhinged characters. Each of them had their own backstory and we got to see how they came to be at the cirque.
Ember's character growth throughout the novel was amazing and I loved that the guys supported her, and gave her the strength to become the Queen she was meant to be.
The world building was descriptive and had me fully immersed. We got a great blend of horror, gore, and steam and I loved the found family aspect which showed how the the cirque became a sanctuary for those in need.
It story was very dark so check the trigger warning. This was a fantastic read and I would definitely recommend it to dark romance lovers.

°·._.·♡ ARC Review ♡·._.·°
I can’t thank XXX enough for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest review…it was an absolute pleasure!
The story follows Ember, abused and beaten down by her vile husband and about to give up hope. Until they come for her. Spade, Club, Heart and their ringmaster Diamond. Saviours from Cirque Obscurum; but will they lead her into temptation or damnation?
Picture this: The Greatest Showman meets The Pretty Liars duet. A circus full of dark secrets and a filthy harem with a man to please everyone. This really was everything I could have asked for in a dark romance. I loved all of the characters and how they all brought something a little different (there’s always that one crazy I love!) to their little found family. Heart was my favourite and I would run away to join the circus with him any day!! But Ember was the star and she earned her name as Queen…I am ready to bow. She was an absolutely badass and watching her learn to respect and believe in herself made this whole book.
I loved the slight fantasy aspect and what I appreciated that it wasn’t overdone so as not to overshadow the relationships and other gory bits. Don’t mix frogs with grandmas though: this was dark af. Some scenes were incredibly bloody and graphic leaning into the thriller/horror genre and I loved it!
Overall, this was glorious and I loved every second of it but check your trigger warnings loves.

Author: K.A. Knight & Kendra Moreno
Couple: Ember with Diamond, Heart, Spade and Club
Tropes: reverse harem, why choose, dark romance, taboo, dark circus vibes, tarot card themes, romantasy
Review: Cirque Obscurum was dark, delicious and taboo to the extreme! KA Knight once again gave us a book that tests the boundaries of normal romance and pushes the barrier of forbidden and fated within the realm of fantastical dystopian vibes. Ember was a FMC who tugged at the heartstrings but also rose from the ashes of her past in the darkest and most beautiful of ways. I loved seeing how she became the Queen of the Cirque and held the cards in her hands as she came into her own and wish we were getting more within this dark and twisty realm!
This book is a prime example of what Katie does best. The Cirque is built on dark and twisted vibes that also toes the line of a darkly twisted dystopian realm. I enjoyed how she put her own spin on a post-war magical dystopian society and found that the way she developed Ember’s character to be the glue that tied everything in this book. While Ember’s story was tragic, I appreciated how she put the struggles she faced in the forefront. The way Ember was able to overcome her past and then accept the love of the men beside her in the Cirque added the layers to the book that showed the dark aspects of the world Katie created in the book never overshadowed the light of finding your own people.
The undercurrent of the Cirque being seen as “freaks” in society in this book also added an element of heartbreak in this book and I adored how Katie showed the effect this had on each person differently. Each guy in this book had a different and tragic past that was never overshadowed but also perfectly explained why they chose the card and act within the Cirque they did. I enjoyed learning about each of the men and found that each one broke my heart in different ways. Heart, Diamond, Spade and Club were the backbone of the romance and Katie was able to create a well blended found family and harem for Ember that provided everything she needed.
Heart was perhaps the man enjoyed the most and his character was also the one I was hoping to learn more about. I was sad that we never got to learn what brought him to the Cirque or his true name and hope we get to some time in the future. I did however LOVE seeing his Cirque act and how death defying he became on the trapeze lines. He was also the resident psycho of the group but was a closet softie for Ember to everyone’s surprise!
This book is HAWT but Katie was able to provide the blend of spice and plot in a way that was not overdone. I liked how she built up the tension between them and allowed for Ember to heal but also found that progression of romance to be organic in the setting of this book. Cirque Obscurum was full of the dark and devious and I cannot wait to see what Katie gives us next!
Rating: 5/5, Welcome to the Cirque…enter if you dare! This book was the perfect blend of dark, twisted and magical and KA Knight once again gives us all of that and more!
Thank you to Courtney & Katie for sending me this ARC!
