This was a fun book that had a bit of everything. It has the self deprecating humor or Murderbot, some philosophical questions on the nature of humanity and being, and some action moments all wrapped into a book that is less than 300 pages. An easy read, it held my attention and made me want to know more about the world that the author created.

I will say that the interactions between the two Mickeys are just… fine. I felt like there could have been a lot more conflict regarding this area and it just seemed to wrap up quickly, and either really thought about any of the issues that they faced being a multiple. I wish that was fleshed out a bit more honestly.

Overall, this was a quick read that I enjoyed! It’s got a lot going for it if you like quirky main characters, science fiction, and a dash of psychology and action mixed in.

My rating is a 4

Mickey 7 is an absolute hoot and a half. From the random 3-some, to the narration, to the way they make every character believable in their choices, it’s really well done. I did watch the movie before reading this and I was pleasantly surprised as to how different but same the book is.

I do wish that Mickey 8 hadn’t just died so suddenly, and the ending was a little bit more flushed out as a whole, but other than that, I really liked the fact that the gang didn’t find him in space or how Berto actually has growth as a character. I liked how there wasn’t an inherently evil leader and that they didn’t do the whole sauce thing lol

Very different from the movie but I loved it!! Very much a philosophical debate wrapped up into a space station with metal aliens and romance and religion, but so fun
