DNF 25%, 2 hrs 15 min into audiobook. This started out strong and my interest declined the further I went. This had such potential but it felt bogged down by the jargon. The timelines being all over the place didn’t have great transitions so I’d be a little lost. Would’ve preferred something more rooted in reality like Andy Weir.

This book has a unique quality to modern science fiction. I find science fiction today to feel very heavy and serious, very self-important, but this book has none of that. It's approachable and fun while also having very clear commentary. It reminds me of older science fiction, Vonnegut or Bradbury, writing for the every-man. it's fun and interesting and not weighed down by jargon but also very well thought out.
