I liked the book. I thought the pacing really worked well with her discovery of herself and Isoria. At times the writing felt a little juvenile, not in a bad way. But like it was intended for the younger side of YA. Overall I really liked this book, and it's good read to get introduced to fantasy.

Secrets of Isoria started out slow for me. The author has a lot of world building to get through- completely understandable, and overall she does a good job of it. I think what made it most difficult for me was a difficulty relating to the narrator and main character, Orion, who is very closed off at the beginning of the book. Overall the book is absolutely worth the read- Orion eventually comes more to life as she makes connections with other characters and learns more about the world she is thrust into the middle of. The book is a charming, fun read once it gets going!
That being said, be warned that the book ends on a MAJOR cliffhanger and I literally don’t know how I’m going to get through the wait for the next book.

"This world is a game of deception. Be sure you're playing."
Secrets of Isoria follows the main character Orion Candor as she discovers who she really is and why she always felt like an outsider in her own world. Through brilliant writing, the reader discovers this new world as Orion does, and frankly, can't expect the twists and surprises that come along the way.
The fantasy in this novel is breathtaking with the magic system and map. There were so many moments during the reading of this novel that I got chills, or I was excited, scared, nervous, happy, and completely mind-blown. I couldn't put this book down, because until the end, it was so hard to tell who the true allies were versus the true enemies. I love so many of the moments Orion had with her friends, the passion and zeal she felt to figure out her family's secret, and the growth Orion experienced.
"I hated how his touch warmed my body and the security I felt when he stayed close to me." By the end of this novel, this quote made me feel so many emotions.
One more thing I love about this book is what is found in the acknowledgments. The author stated she has had this story since she was a young teenager, and personally, I think that adds even more beauty and depth to this book (which is hopefully the first of many). And it is so refreshing to other aspiring authors that, one day, their story could be as amazing as this one.
I've rated Secrets of Isoria five stars because: it is a fantasy novel that can be read by anyone, it encompasses a majestic magic system that truly brings the story to life, it is fast-paced, and (for so many other reasons) it just absolutely deserves five stars.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read that kept me up late curious for the ending. Although it felt like a slow start with a lot of information to unpack, once it picked up it moved quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed the details the author included in the world building, the history included as well as the details laying out each school and power. I’m always a huge fan of elemental magic and this book did not disappoint. It’s definitely for the younger end of YA, possibly high school level.
Great for fans of HP and The Red Queen.

ecrets of Isoria will have you finishing it in one sitting, because that’s what I did! Cristina Macari has created an epic fantasy adventure that everyone needs to read.
The writing is fun, quick, and well done to pull you along through the story. I was so excited to receive this after after seeing so many videos on it!
